Replace the #include of &lt;linux/mod_devicetable.h&gt; by the more specific
&lt;linux/device-id/*.h&gt; where applicable. For most cases the include
can be dropped completely, only a few drivers need one or two headers
added.

The drm_bridge_funcs.atomic_reset callback and its
drm_atomic_helper_bridge_reset() helper are deprecated.

Switch to the atomic_create_state callback and its
drm_atomic_helper_bridge_create_state() counterpart.

Don't just overwrite the original pointer passed to krealloc()
with its return value without checking latter:

    MEM = krealloc(MEM, SZ, GFP);

If krealloc() returns NULL, that erases the pointer
to the still allocated memory, hence leaks this memory.
Instead, use a temporary variable, check it's not NULL
and only then assign it to the original pointer:

    TMP = krealloc(MEM, SZ, GFP);
    if (!TMP) return;
    MEM = TMP;

While on it, use krealloc_array().

__drm_atomic_helper_connector_hdmi_reset() is typically used to
initialize a newly allocated drm_connector_state when the connector is
using the HDMI helpers, and is being called by the
drm_connector_funcs.reset implementation.

Since we want to consolidate DRM objects state allocation around the
atomic_create_state callback that will only allocate and initialize a
new drm_connector_state instance, we will need to call
__drm_atomic_helper_connector_hdmi_reset() from both the reset and
atomic_create hooks.

To avoid any confusion, we can thus rename
__drm_atomic_helper_connector_hdmi_reset() to
__drm_atomic_helper_connector_hdmi_state_init().

<title>drm: Rename struct drm_atomic_state to drm_atomic_commit</title>

The KMS framework uses two slightly different definitions for the state
concept. For a given object (plane, CRTC, encoder, etc., so
drm_$OBJECT_state), the state is the entire state of that object.
However, at the device level, drm_atomic_state refers to a state update
for a limited number of objects.

Thus, drm_atomic_state isn't the entire device state, but only the full
state of some objects in that device. This has been an endless source of
confusion and thus bugs.

We can rename the drm_atomic_state structure to drm_atomic_commit to
make it less confusing.

This patch was created using:
