In the ctl_value_index_valid() function, when validating 64-bit integer
controls (SND_CTL_ELEM_TYPE_INTEGER64), the error message for maximum
value validation has two bugs:
1. Uses snd_ctl_elem_info_get_max() instead of the 64-bit variant
snd_ctl_elem_info_get_max64()
2. Uses %ld format specifier instead of %lld for long long type
This is inconsistent with the minimum value validation (line 335-339)
which correctly uses get_min64() and %lld. The mismatch can cause:
- Incorrect maximum values being reported on some architectures
- Undefined behavior due to format specifier mismatch
- Potential crashes when printing the error message
Fix by using snd_ctl_elem_info_get_max64() and %lld format specifier
to match the data type and be consistent with the minimum value check.

Some new futex tests rely on kernel features that may not be supported
on all configurations (e.g., FUTEX2_NUMA or PR_FUTEX_HASH).
Currently, these tests fail with EINVAL when the features are missing.
Add dynamic skip logic to:
- futex_priv_hash: Skip if PR_FUTEX_HASH returns ENOSYS or EINVAL.
- futex_numa_mpol: Skip if futex2 or FUTEX2_NUMA returns ENOSYS or EINVAL.
This allows the tests to pass (as SKIPPED) on kernels without support,
while preserving coverage on configurations that do support them.

The futex functional tests cover FUTEX_LOCK_PI timeout semantics
(futex_wait_timeout.c) and robust-list owner death (robust_list.c), but
nothing exercises a non-robust PI owner exiting while holding the lock,
nor the basic ownership / EDEADLK / unlock word semantics of
FUTEX_LOCK_PI.
Add futex_lock_pi_exiting.c with three tests:
- lock_unlock_basic: an uncontended FUTEX_LOCK_PI puts the owner TID in
the futex word, a recursive lock by the owner returns EDEADLK, and
FUTEX_UNLOCK_PI clears the word.
- owner_dies_with_blocked_waiter: a thread acquires a PI futex and exits
while holding it; a blocked FUTEX_LOCK_PI waiter must come out cleanly
(0, EOWNERDEAD or ESRCH) and own the lock when it acquires.
- stress_owner_exits: repeatedly drive the same exiting-owner path.
The exiting-owner retry path is where commit 210d36d892de ("futex: Clear
stale exiting pointer in futex_lock_pi() retry path") fixed a stale task
pointer that tripped WARN_ON_ONCE() in wait_for_owner_exiting(). That
warning does not change the syscall return value, so this test does not
assert on it directly; the stress loop exists to give a kernel booted
with panic_on_warn=1 (as fuzzers and CI commonly run) a chance to trip
on it.

In futex_waitv negative tests (invalid_flag, unaligned_address, etc.), test
results are evaluated as:
if (res == EINVAL)
Since sys_futex_waitv returns -1 on error and sets errno, direct positive
comparisons against res are always false, causing tests to silently pass
regardless of real errors.
Correct these validations to assert EXPECT_EQ(res, -1) and compare errno
directly against expected constants.

Currently, multiple futex functional tests (wait_timeout, waitv,
wait_wouldblock) mix low-level ksft_* logging and result APIs with the
kselftest_harness.h framework. On older kernels where system calls like
futex_waitv are missing (returning -ENOSYS), this mixed usage triggers
framework inconsistencies, causing the test to fail with: "Illegal usage of
low-level ksft APIs in harness test".
Address this by completely refactoring these tests to exclusively use
the high-level kselftest_harness.h framework (gtest-like API), mapping
all low-level calls to native harness macros:
- Non-fatal assertions: Replace ksft_test_result_fail() with EXPECT_EQ()
and EXPECT_NE().
- Fatal assertions: Replace ksft_exit_fail_msg() with ASSERT_EQ() and
ASSERT_TRUE() to immediately terminate execution upon setup failure.
- Test skipping: Replace ksft_exit_skip() with the graceful SKIP() macro
combined with early runtime availability checks for sys_futex_waitv.
- Debug logging: Replace ksft_print_dbg_msg() with TH_LOG() to inherit
automatic file/line context.
- Success reporting: Remove explicit ksft_test_result_pass() calls,
deferring to automated harness completion reporting.
Additionally:
- Fix a critical SIGSEGV crash in early syscall probing logic caused by
passing a NULL pointer to inline user-space timespec conversions.
- Introduce TEST_TIMEOUT() and GET_ABS_TIMEOUT() macros in wait_timeout
to encapsulate assertions while preserving source line attribution.
- Pass test metadata (_metadata) into secondary threads to allow native
harness assertions during concurrent execution.

In find_controls(), card_data is allocated with malloc() but when
snd_ctl_open_lconf() fails, the code jumps to next_card without
freeing the allocated memory. This results in a memory leak for
each card where snd_ctl_open_lconf() fails.
Add free(card_data) before goto next_card to ensure proper cleanup
of the allocated memory in the error path.

The uprobe nop5 optimization used to replace a 5-byte NOP with a 5-byte
CALL to a trampoline. The CALL pushes a return address onto the stack at
[rsp-8], clobbering whatever was stored there.
On x86-64, the red zone is the 128 bytes below rsp that user code may use
for temporary storage without adjusting rsp. Compilers can place USDT
argument operands there, generating specs like "8@-8(%rbp)" when rbp ==
rsp. With the CALL-based optimization, the return address overwrites that
argument before the BPF-side USDT argument fetch runs.
Add two tests for this case. The uprobe_syscall subtest stores known values
at -8(%rsp), -16(%rsp), and -24(%rsp), executes an optimized nop10 uprobe,
and verifies the red-zone data is still intact. The USDT subtest triggers a
probe in a function where the compiler places three USDT operands in the
red zone and verifies that all 10 optimized invocations deliver the expected
argument values to BPF.
On an unfixed kernel, the first hit goes through the INT3 path and later
hits use the optimized CALL path, so the red-zone checks fail after
optimization.

Now that we have nop10 optimization support in kernel, let's emit
nop,nop10 for usdt probe. We leave it up to the library to use
desirable nop instruction.

Add a test that uses both getcwd() and readlink() so that both
are exercised.
First the happy path is tested by fetching what should be the
same string via getcwd() and readlink() and checking they match.
Then a few different combinations of bad parameters are passed to
getcwd() to make sure it returns NULL and sets errno in those
cases.

Pull vfs fixes from Christian Brauner:
- netfs:
- fix the decision when to disallow write-streaming with fscache in
use, handling of asynchronous cache object creation, a double fput
in cachefiles, clearing S_KERNEL_FILE without the inode lock held,
page extraction bugs in the iov_iter helpers (a potential
underflow, a missing allocation failure check, a memory leak, and
a folio offset miscalculation), writeback error and ENOMEM
handling, DIO write retry for filesystems without a
->prepare_write() method, and the replacement of the wb_lock mutex
with a bit lock plus writethrough collection offload so that
multiple asynchronous writebacks don't interfere with each other.
- Fix the barriering when walking the netfs subrequest list during
retries as it was possible to see a subrequest that was just added
by the application thread.
- iomap:
- Change iomap to submit read bios after each extent instead of
building them up across extents. The old behavior was considered
problematic for a while and now caused an actual erofs bug.
- Guard the ioend io_size EOF trim in iomap against underflow when a
concurrent truncate moves EOF below the start of the ioend,
wrapping io_size to a huge value.
- overlayfs
- Fix a stale overlayfs comment about the locking order.
- Store the linked-in upper dentry instead of the disconnected
O_TMPFILE dentry during overlayfs tmpfile copy-up. With a FUSE or
virtiofs upper layer ->d_revalidate() would try to look up "/" in
the workdir and fail, causing persistent ESTALE errors that broke
dpkg and apt.
- vfs-bpf:
Have the bpf_real_data_inode() kfunc take a struct file instead of a
dentry so it is usable from the bprm_check_security, mmap_file, and
file_mprotect hooks, and rename it from bpf_real_inode() to make the
data-inode semantics explicit. The kfunc landed this cycle so the
change is safe.
- afs:
NULL pointer dereferences in the callback service and in
afs_get_tree(), several memory and refcount leaks, missing locking
around the dynamic root inode numbers and premature cell exposure
through /afs, a netns destruction hang caused by a misplaced
increment of net->cells_outstanding, a bulk lookup malfunction caused
by the dir_emit() API change, inode (re)initialisation issues, and
assorted smaller fixes to error codes, seqlock handling, and debug
output.
- vfs:
Refuse O_TMPFILE creation with an unmapped fsuid or fsgid and add a
selftest for it.
- vboxsf:
Add Jori Koolstra as vboxsf maintainer, taking over from Hans de
Goede.
- dio:
Release the pages attached to a short atomic dio bio; the REQ_ATOMIC
size check error path leaked them.
- procfs:
Only bump the parent directory link count when registering
directories in procfs. Registering regular files inflated the count
and leaked a link on every create and remove cycle.
- minix:
Avoid an unsigned overflow in the minix bitmap block count
calculation that let crafted images with huge inode or zone counts
pass superblock validation and crash the kernel during mount.
- cachefiles:
Fix a double unlock in the cachefiles nomem_d_alloc error path left
over from the start_creating() conversion.
- fat:
Stop fat from reading directory entries past the 0x00
end-of-directory marker. If the trailing on-disk slots aren't
zero-filled the driver surfaced arbitrary garbage as directory
entries.
- freexvfs:
Don't BUG() on unknown typed-extent types in freevxfs, reachable via
ioctl(FIBMAP) on a crafted image; fail with an I/O error instead.
- orangefs:
Keep the readdir entry size 64-bit in orangefs fill_from_part().
Truncating it to __u32 bypassed the bounds check and led to
out-of-bounds reads triggerable by the userspace client.
- xfs:
Fix the error unwind in xfs_open_devices() which released the rt
device file twice and left dangling buftarg pointers behind that were
freed again when the failed mount was torn down.
- exec:
Fix an off-by-one in the comment documenting the maximum binfmt
rewrite depth in exec_binprm(). The code allows five rewrites, not
four; restricting the code would break userspace so the comment is
fixed instead.
- file handles:
Reject detached mounts in capable_wrt_mount(). A detached mount can
be dissolved concurrently, leaving a NULL mount namespace that
open_by_handle_at() would dereference.

Pull mod_devicetable.h header split from Uwe Kleine-König:
"Split <linux/mod_devicetable.h> in per subsystem headers
<linux/mod_devicetable.h> is included transitively in nearly every
driver in an x86_64 allmodconfig build of v7.1:

The result of this mixture of different and unrelated subsystem
details is that even when touching an obscure device id struct most of
the kernel needs to be recompiled. Given that each driver typically
only needs one or two of these structures, splitting into per
subsystem headers and only including what is really needed reduces the
amount of needed recompilation.
This split is implemented in the first commit and then after some
preparatory work in the following commits, the last two replace
includes of <linux/mod_devicetable.h> by the actually needed more
specific headers.
There are still a few instances left, but the ones with high impact
(that is in headers that are used a lot) and the easy ones (.c files)
are handled. These remaining includes will be addressed during the
next merge window"

Extend the RTM_GETMULTICAST dump test to verify IFA_MC_USERS for both
IPv4 and IPv6 multicast groups.
Run each protocol test in a fresh network namespace to avoid changing
host-network state or racing with unrelated multicast users. Join a
fixed multicast group twice using separate sockets and check that the
reported user count increases by two.

Building the rseq selftests against musl libc fails because musl's
<features.h> does not provide the glibc-specific __GNUC_PREREQ macro:
error: missing binary operator before token '('
Replace __GNUC_PREREQ(11, 1) with an equivalent check using __GNUC__
and __GNUC_MINOR__ directly. This pattern is portable across all C
library implementations and is already used elsewhere in the tools/
tree (e.g., tools/include/linux/string.h).
This also allows removing the #include <features.h>, which was only
needed for __GNUC_PREREQ.

Add coverage for entry uprobes installed on CALL instructions while user
shadow stack is enabled. The test puts an entry uprobe on a helper whose
first instruction is a relative CALL, then verifies that the call/return
sequence completes without SIGSEGV.
This catches regressions where x86 uprobe CALL emulation updates the
regular user stack but leaves the CET shadow stack stale.

Exercise the raw getsockopt path now backed by sockopt_t. ICMP_FILTER
returns a fixed-size struct and, unlike the int/u64 options already
covered, clamps the length down to the user buffer on a short read
instead of failing, so check that semantic explicitly along with the
exact and oversized cases, the -EOPNOTSUPP path on a non-ICMP raw
socket, and an unknown optname.

The RPS test needs a free CPU within the first RPS_MAX_CPUS (16)
cores. This is easily violated if the NIC or env allocates the
IRQs to cores linearly.
Cap the Rx queues at 8, we don't need more. This makes the test
pass on CX7 in NIPA.

There are several places in transact_test() where we use the hardcoded
0x1000 (4k) as page size, which is not always correct for architectures
supporting multiple page sizes.
Switch to use the correct page size. Otherwise ./ksft_pagemap.sh on a
16k-page-size arm64 box fails with

ksft_process_madv.sh currently runs run_vmtests.sh with the mmap category.
Update it to run the process_madv category, since ksft_mmap.sh already
runs the mmap category tests.
This avoids running mmap tests twice and ensures that process_madv tests
are run through the kselftest harness.

test_maps fails in the sockmap test because sockmap_verdict_prog.c
drops the packet when the first 8 bytes are not directly accessible:
if (data + 8 > data_end)
return SK_DROP;
The blamed commit removed bpf_skb_pull_data() from the stream parser
program so that the parser no longer modifies the skb. That was needed,
but it also removed an implicit side effect: bpf_skb_pull_data()
linearized enough of the skb for later direct packet access.
In this test, the send side goes through the sockmap SK_MSG path. The
skb can have skb->len == 20 while its linear area is empty, so the
verdict program sees data == data_end and drops the packet even though
the payload length is sufficient.
Keep the parser read-only, and pull the first 8 bytes in the verdict
program before reading or writing them. Reload data/data_end after
bpf_skb_pull_data() as required.

The mptcpify BPF prog upgrades eligible TCP sockets to MPTCP, but only
when the socket type is exactly SOCK_STREAM. Its update_socket_protocol()
hook runs on the raw type from userspace, before the socket core masks
it with SOCK_TYPE_MASK, so the type may still carry SOCK_CLOEXEC or
SOCK_NONBLOCK in its upper bits and the equality check fails.
As a result, a socket(AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM | SOCK_CLOEXEC, 0) -- what
common libraries do by default -- is silently left as plain TCP. This
was hit in practice with curl. Since mptcpify.c is referenced as example
code for enabling MPTCP transparently, the same mistake is likely to be
copied into real deployments where it fails the same way and is hard to
diagnose.
Mask the type before comparing, mirroring the socket core. Extend the
test to also create the server with SOCK_CLOEXEC set; the same masking
is applied to start_server_addr() so a flagged type still listens.

Add a regression test for the out-of-bounds bit operations on
struct mt_device.mt_io_flags.
A HID multitouch device can advertise a ContactCountMaximum far larger
than the number of contacts a single report describes, up to 255. The
driver used to keep the per-slot active state in the bits of a single
unsigned long and index set_bit()/clear_bit() by the slot number, so such
a device drove those operations out of bounds. The sticky-fingers release
timer made it fatal: mt_release_contacts() cleared one bit per slot and
overwrote the adjacent members of struct mt_device.
The new device advertises a ContactCountMaximum of 250 while exposing only
a few finger collections (a large contact count cannot be expressed with
one finger collection per contact within the HID descriptor size limit).
The test sends a single contact and lets the 100ms sticky-fingers timer
release it. A kernel without the fix panics in mt_release_contacts(); a
fixed kernel reports the release cleanly.

When lookup element from those per-CPU maps, which have special field
in their values and their value size is not equal to roundup(value_sz, 8),
the padding size of temporary non-zeroed kernel heap memory allocated by
kvmalloc should not be exposed to user space.
Without the fix:
