According to one of Jann's OOPS reports it looks like BUG_ON(timer_pending(timer)) triggers during add_timer() in ax25_start_t1timer(). For the common, open coded 'skb->mac.raw = skb->data' operation, so that we can later turn skb->mac.raw into a offset, reducing the size of struct sk_buff in 64bit land while possibly keeping it as a pointer on 32bit. Many struct file_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential dirty data. The recent fix 0506d4068bad834aab1141b5dc5e748eb175c6b3 made obvious that error values were not being propagated through the AX.25 stack.
