<title>btrfs: raid56: fix scrub read assembly submitting no reads</title>

Commit 5387bd958180 ("btrfs: raid56: remove sector_ptr structure")
converted the bio-list membership checks from sector pointers to
physical addresses. The two conversions in rmw_assemble_write_bios()
kept their polarity (skip the sector when it is NOT in the bio list,
i.e. when there is nothing to write), but scrub_assemble_read_bios()
has the opposite polarity -- skip the sector when it IS in the bio
list, because then there is nothing to read -- and the conversion
flipped it:

	-	sector = sector_in_rbio(rbio, stripe, sectornr, 1);
	-	if (sector)
	+	paddr = sector_paddr_in_rbio(rbio, stripe, sectornr, 1);
	+	if (paddr == INVALID_PADDR)
		continue;

Since a parity-scrub rbio's bio list only holds the empty completion
bio, the result is that scrub_assemble_read_bios() submits no reads at
all. finish_parity_scrub() then compares the parity it computes from
the (cached, correct) data stripes against whatever happens to be in
the freshly allocated, uninitialized stripe pages:

  - if the garbage differs from the computed parity, the sector is
    "repaired" and written back -- accidentally producing the correct
    on-disk result;

  - if a recycled page happens to still hold the old (correct) parity
    content, the sector is deemed clean, dropped from dbitmap, and the
    actually-corrupt on-disk parity is left in place. (Scrub reports
    no errors either way: there is no counter for P/Q corruption by
    design, so the bug here is purely the failure to read and repair.)

The second case is intermittent because it depends on page-allocator
recycling. Observed with fstests btrfs/297 (raid5, 2 devices): the
corrupted P stripe intermittently stays corrupt after a scrub --
roughly 1/10 runs on x86-64 KVM and up to 7/8 on a UML build whose
timing favors page reuse.

Since the bio-list check can never be true for a parity-scrub rbio --
raid56_parity_alloc_scrub_rbio() adds a single empty completion bio
(asserting bi_size == 0), bio_paddrs[] is only populated by
index_rbio_pages() which is never called for BTRFS_RBIO_PARITY_SCRUB,
and rbio_can_merge() refuses to merge rbios of different operations --
remove the dead check entirely and assert the invariant instead, as
suggested by Qu Wenruo.

After this fix the injected corruption is read, detected and repaired
in every run (8/8 UML, 10/10 KVM), and the new assertion never fires
across the full fstests raid group.

Commit 7425a2894019 ("btrfs: introduce btrfs_bio_for_each_block_all()
helper") uses the new helper to replace the nested loop inside
verify_bio_data_sectors(), which simplifies the code.

However that also changed the behavior of "continue" when a block has no
data checksum.

Previously the "continue" would skip the old for() loop, which would also
increase @total_sector_nr.

Now the "continue" will skip the new btrfs_bio_for_each_block_all()
loop, which doesn't update @total_sector_nr.

This means if we hit a block that has no data checksum, we will skip all
the remaining blocks no matter if they have data checksum.
As @total_sector_nr will never be updated, and that test_bit() will
always return false.

Fix it by increasing @total_sector_nr before calling "continue".

<title>btrfs: allocate eb-attached btree pages as movable</title>

Extent buffer pages allocated by alloc_extent_buffer() are attached to
btree_inode-&gt;i_mapping (the buffer_tree path), reach the LRU, and are
served by the btree_migrate_folio aops in fs/btrfs/disk-io.c. They are
migratable in practice once their owning extent buffer hits refs == 1,
which happens naturally. The buddy allocator classifies them by GFP,
however, and bare GFP_NOFS lands them in MIGRATE_UNMOVABLE pageblocks.

The result: every btree_inode page we read in pins an unmovable pageblock
from the page-superblock allocator's perspective, even though the page
itself can be moved.

Have each caller of btrfs_alloc_page_array, btrfs_alloc_folio_array,
and alloc_eb_folio_array pass in the full GFP mask directly, instead
of having the functions calculate it from boolean flags.

The alloc_extent_buffer call site passes GFP_NOFS | __GFP_NOFAIL |
__GFP_MOVABLE. All other call sites pass plain GFP_NOFS.

Three categories of caller stay on bare GFP_NOFS, deliberately:

  - alloc_dummy_extent_buffer / btrfs_clone_extent_buffer: the
    resulting eb is EXTENT_BUFFER_UNMAPPED, folio-&gt;mapping stays NULL,
    the folios never enter LRU, never get migrate_folio aops. Tagging
    them __GFP_MOVABLE would violate the page allocator's migrability
    contract and they would defeat compaction in MOVABLE pageblocks
    where isolate_migratepages_block skips non-LRU non-movable_ops
    pages outright.

  - btrfs_alloc_page_array callers in fs/btrfs/raid56.c (stripe
    pages), fs/btrfs/inode.c (encoded reads), fs/btrfs/ioctl.c (io_uring
    encoded reads), fs/btrfs/relocation.c (relocation buffers): same
    contract violation. raid56 stripe_pages additionally persist in
    the stripe cache (RBIO_CACHE_SIZE=1024) well beyond a single I/O,
    so they are not transient enough to hand-wave the contract.

  - btrfs_alloc_folio_array caller in fs/btrfs/scrub.c (stripe
    folios): same -- stripe-&gt;folios[] are private buffers freed via
    folio_put in release_scrub_stripe.

This change targets the dominant fragmentation source observed on the
page-superblock series: ~28 GB of btree_inode pages parked across
many tainted superpageblocks on a 250 GB test system with btrfs root,
preventing 1 GiB hugepage allocation from those regions. With the
movable hint, those pages now land in MOVABLE pageblocks where the
existing background defragger drains them through the standard
PB_has_movable gate, no LRU-sample fallback needed.

Pull tracing updates from Steven Rostedt:

 - Fix printf format warning for bprintf

   sunrpc uses a trace_printk() that triggers a printf warning during
   the compile. Move the __printf() attribute around for when debugging
   is not enabled the warning will go away

 - Remove redundant check for EVENT_FILE_FL_FREED in
   event_filter_write()

   The FREED flag is checked in the call to event_file_file() and then
   checked again right afterward, which is unneeded

 - Clean up event_file_file() and event_file_data() helpers

   These helper functions played a different role in the past, but now
   with eventfs, the READ_ONCE() isn't needed. Simplify the code a bit
   and also add a warning to event_file_data() if the file or its data
   is not present

 - Remove updating file-&gt;private_data in tracing open

   All access to the file private data is handled by the helper
   functions, which do not use file-&gt;private_data. Stop updating it on
   open

 - Show ENUM names in function arguments via BTF in function tracing

   When showing the function arguments when func-args option is set for
   function tracing, if one of the arguments is found to be an enum,
   show the name of the enum instead of its number

 - Add new trace_call__##name() API for tracepoints

   Tracepoints are enabled via static_branch() blocks, where when not
   enabled, there's only a nop that is in the code where the execution
   will just skip over it. When tracing is enabled, the nop is converted
   to a direct jump to the tracepoint code. Sometimes more calculations
   are required to be performed to update the parameters of the
   tracepoint. In this case, trace_##name##_enabled() is called which is
   a static_branch() that gets enabled only when the tracepoint is
   enabled. This allows the extra calculations to also be skipped by the
   nop:

	if (trace_foo_enabled()) {
		x = bar();
		trace_foo(x);
	}

   Where the x=bar() is only performed when foo is enabled. The problem
   with this approach is that there's now two static_branch() calls. One
   for checking if the tracepoint is enabled, and then again to know if
   the tracepoint should be called. The second one is redundant

   Introduce trace_call__foo() that will call the foo() tracepoint
   directly without doing a static_branch():

	if (trace_foo_enabled()) {
		x = bar();
		trace_call__foo();
	}

 - Update various locations to use the new trace_call__##name() API

 - Move snapshot code out of trace.c

   Cleaning up trace.c to not be a "dump all", move the snapshot code
   out of it and into a new trace_snapshot.c file

 - Clean up some "%*.s" to "%*s"

 - Allow boot kernel command line options to be called multiple times

   Have options like:

	ftrace_filter=foo ftrace_filter=bar ftrace_filter=zoo

   Equal to:

	ftrace_filter=foo,bar,zoo

 - Fix ipi_raise event CPU field to be a CPU field

   The ipi_raise target_cpus field is defined as a __bitmask(). There is
   now a __cpumask() field definition. Update the field to use that

 - Have hist_field_name() use a snprintf() and not a series of strcat()

   It's safer to use snprintf() that a series of strcat()

 - Fix tracepoint regfunc balancing

   A tracepoint can define a "reg" and "unreg" function that gets called
   before the tracepoint is enabled, and after it is disabled
   respectively. But on error, after the "reg" func is called and the
   tracepoint is not enabled, the "unreg" function is not called to tear
   down what the "reg" function performed

 - Fix output that shows what histograms are enabled

   Event variables are displayed incorrectly in the histogram output

   Instead of "sched.sched_wakeup.$var", it is showing
   "$sched.sched_wakeup.var" where the '$' is in the incorrect location

 - Some other simple cleanups

Pull non-MM updates from Andrew Morton:

 - "pid: make sub-init creation retryable" (Oleg Nesterov)

   Make creation of init in a new namespace more robust by clearing away
   some historical cruft which is no longer needed. Also some
   documentation fixups

 - "selftests/fchmodat2: Error handling and general" (Mark Brown)

   Fix and a cleanup for the fchmodat2() syscall selftest

 - "lib: polynomial: Move to math/ and clean up" (Andy Shevchenko)

 - "hung_task: Provide runtime reset interface for hung task detector"
   (Aaron Tomlin)

   Give administrators the ability to zero out
   /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_detect_count

 - "tools/getdelays: use the static UAPI headers from
   tools/include/uapi" (Thomas Weißschuh)

   Teach getdelays to use the in-kernel UAPI headers rather than the
   system-provided ones

 - "watchdog/hardlockup: Improvements to hardlockup" (Mayank Rungta)

   Several cleanups and fixups to the hardlockup detector code and its
   documentation

 - "lib/bch: fix undefined behavior from signed left-shifts" (Josh Law)

   A couple of small/theoretical fixes in the bch code

 - "ocfs2/dlm: fix two bugs in dlm_match_regions()" (Junrui Luo)

 - "cleanup the RAID5 XOR library" (Christoph Hellwig)

   A quite far-reaching cleanup to this code. I can't do better than to
   quote Christoph:

     "The XOR library used for the RAID5 parity is a bit of a mess right
      now. The main file sits in crypto/ despite not being cryptography
      and not using the crypto API, with the generic implementations
      sitting in include/asm-generic and the arch implementations
      sitting in an asm/ header in theory. The latter doesn't work for
      many cases, so architectures often build the code directly into
      the core kernel, or create another module for the architecture
      code.

      Change this to a single module in lib/ that also contains the
      architecture optimizations, similar to the library work Eric
      Biggers has done for the CRC and crypto libraries later. After
      that it changes to better calling conventions that allow for
      smarter architecture implementations (although none is contained
      here yet), and uses static_call to avoid indirection function call
      overhead"

 - "lib/list_sort: Clean up list_sort() scheduling workarounds"
   (Kuan-Wei Chiu)

   Clean up this library code by removing a hacky thing which was added
   for UBIFS, which UBIFS doesn't actually need

 - "Fix bugs in extract_iter_to_sg()" (Christian Ehrhardt)

   Fix a few bugs in the scatterlist code, add in-kernel tests for the
   now-fixed bugs and fix a leak in the test itself

 - "kdump: Enable LUKS-encrypted dump target support in ARM64 and
   PowerPC" (Coiby Xu)

   Enable support of the LUKS-encrypted device dump target on arm64 and
   powerpc

 - "ocfs2: consolidate extent list validation into block read callbacks"
   (Joseph Qi)

   Cleanup, simplify, and make more robust ocfs2's validation of extent
   list fields (Kernel test robot loves mounting corrupted fs images!)

<title>btrfs: replace kcalloc() calls to kzalloc_objs()</title>

Commit 2932ba8d9c99 ("slab: Introduce kmalloc_obj() and family")
introduced, among many others, the kzalloc_objs() helper, which has some
benefits over kcalloc(). Namely, internal introspection of the allocated
type now becomes possible, allowing for future alignment-aware choices
to be made by the allocator and future hardening work that can be type
sensitive. Dropping 'sizeof' comes also as a nice side-effect.

Moreover, this also allows us to be in line with the recent tree-wide
migration to the kmalloc_obj() and family of helpers. See
commit 69050f8d6d07 ("treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for
non-scalar types").
