The vb2 framework hands buffers to the driver via buf_queue() before
calling start_streaming(). If start_streaming() returns an error
without first returning those buffers via vb2_buffer_done(),
vb2_start_streaming() fires WARN_ON(owned_by_drv_count) and the queued
buffers leak.
sun4i_csi_start_streaming() returned -EINVAL when no matching CSI
format could be found, before any setup (scratch buffer allocation,
pipeline start) had been performed. The remaining error paths already
converge on the err_clear_dma_queue label, which calls
return_all_buffers(..., VB2_BUF_STATE_QUEUED) under csi->qlock. Jump
to that label directly: the intermediate err_disable_device /
err_disable_pipeline / err_free_scratch_buffer labels are skipped,
which is correct because nothing they would undo has happened yet.
This mirrors the uvcvideo fix in commit 4cf3b6fd54eb ("media: uvcvideo:
Return queued buffers on start_streaming() failure").

The vb2 framework hands buffers to the driver via buf_queue() before
calling start_streaming(). If start_streaming() returns an error
without first returning those buffers via vb2_buffer_done(),
vb2_start_streaming() fires WARN_ON(owned_by_drv_count) and the queued
buffers leak.
rtl2832_sdr_start_streaming() had multiple error paths that hit this
trap: two direct early returns (-ENODEV, -ERESTARTSYS), plus six
`goto err` paths covering subdev s_power, tuner setup, ADC setup,
stream-buffer allocation, urb allocation, and urb submission failures.
None of them returned the queued buffers.
The original function had no distinct success exit and fell straight
through into the err label, which previously only did mutex_unlock and
"return ret". Adding queued-buffer cleanup at err must therefore be
paired with an explicit success return; otherwise every successful
start would also drain the buffer queue and kill streaming. Add that
success return, then add rtl2832_sdr_cleanup_queued_bufs() at the err
label and before each early return.
The cleanup helper takes a vb2_buffer_state argument so that the
start_streaming error paths can pass VB2_BUF_STATE_QUEUED (as
expected by userspace on start_streaming failure) while stop_streaming
keeps its existing VB2_BUF_STATE_ERROR semantics.
This mirrors the uvcvideo fix in commit 4cf3b6fd54eb ("media: uvcvideo:
Return queued buffers on start_streaming() failure").
The err label still does not roll back power_ctrl(), frontend_ctrl(),
the POWER_ON flag, or stream/URB allocations that may have happened
before the failing step. Those are pre-existing leaks of a different
class and are not addressed here.

without first returning those buffers via vb2_buffer_done(),
vb2_start_streaming() fires WARN_ON(owned_by_drv_count) and the queued

pwc's start_streaming() had two early returns that hit this trap:
-ENODEV when the USB device was already disconnected, and -ERESTARTSYS
when mutex_lock_interruptible() was interrupted by a signal. Call the
existing pwc_cleanup_queued_bufs() helper with VB2_BUF_STATE_QUEUED
before returning (matching the state already used by the
pwc_isoc_init() error path in the same function).

The vb2 framework hands buffers to the driver via buf_queue() before
calling start_streaming(). If start_streaming() returns an error
without first returning those buffers via vb2_buffer_done(),
vb2_start_streaming() fires WARN_ON(owned_by_drv_count) and the queued
buffers leak.
msi2500_start_streaming() had five error paths that all hit this trap
and were further tangled by ret-overwriting between calls:
- -ENODEV when the USB device was already disconnected
- -ERESTARTSYS when mutex_lock_interruptible() was interrupted
- msi2500_set_usb_adc() failure: ret was silently overwritten by
the next call (msi2500_isoc_init), so the error was lost entirely
- msi2500_isoc_init() failure: cleanup_queued_bufs was called, but
the function then fell through to msi2500_ctrl_msg() and again
masked the original error by overwriting ret
- msi2500_ctrl_msg(CMD_START_STREAMING) failure: no cleanup at all,
leaving isoc URBs submitted with no way for the driver to consume
them
Consolidate the error paths into a small goto chain. Every failure
now stops the function, drains the queued-buffer list, and returns
the real error code. The ctrl_msg failure path also rolls back the
preceding msi2500_isoc_init() via msi2500_isoc_cleanup() before
unlocking and draining.
The cleanup helper takes a vb2_buffer_state argument so that the
start_streaming error paths can pass VB2_BUF_STATE_QUEUED (as
expected by userspace on start_streaming failure) while stop_streaming
keeps its existing VB2_BUF_STATE_ERROR semantics.

airspy_start_streaming() returned -ENODEV early when the USB device had
been disconnected (s->udev == NULL) without returning any buffers that
buf_queue() had already accepted. Take v4l2_lock first and jump to the
existing err_clear_bit label, which already drains s->queued_bufs via
vb2_buffer_done(..., VB2_BUF_STATE_QUEUED) before unlocking.

Queued buffers are added to the tail of vid_cap_active in
buffer_queue(), but the capture kthread also retrieves buffers from
the tail of the list.
This makes the queue behave as LIFO instead of FIFO when multiple
buffers are queued.

The driver uses vb2_fop_release() as its file release operation, so
vb2_video_unregister_device() should be used instead of
video_unregister_device() during driver removal.
This ensures that the vb2 queue is properly disconnected before the

tegra_get_format_fourcc_by_idx() returns a u32 but uses -EINVAL to
signal an out-of-bounds index. This results in a large unsigned
value being returned, which may be interpreted as a valid fourcc.
Returning 0 is not a valid fourcc either. This condition should
never happen, so use WARN_ON_ONCE() to catch unexpected out-of-bounds
access and return a valid fallback format instead.

Add an in-tree AVMatrix HWS PCIe capture driver. The driver supports
up to four HDMI inputs and exposes the video capture path through
V4L2 with vb2-dma-contig streaming, DV timings, and per-input
controls. Audio support is intentionally omitted from this
submission.
This patch also adds the MAINTAINERS entry for the new driver.
This driver is derived from a GPL out-of-tree driver.
Changes since v6:
- v6 accidently contained legacy history, resubmitting with latest
- remove an unused mode-change label reported by W=1
Changes since v5:
- keep queue_setup() and alloc_sizeimage on the logical sizeimage value
- drop the dead queue_setup() fallback that rebuilt pix.sizeimage
on the fly
- clarify that hws_calc_sizeimage() models the packed-YUYV-only path
- add Assisted-by attribution for Codex
Changes since v4:
- replace plain 64-bit elapsed-time divisions in debug logging with
div_u64() so i386 module builds do not emit __udivdi3 references
Changes since v3:
- fold the MAINTAINERS update into this patch so per-patch CI sees the
new file pattern
- wrap the validation text for checkpatch
Changes since v2:
- keep scratch DMA allocation on a single probe-owned path
- avoid double-freeing V4L2 control handlers on register unwind
- drop the extra per-node resolution sysfs ABI
- turn live geometry changes into explicit SOURCE_CHANGE renegotiation
- report live DV timings and reject attempts to retime a live source
- stop advertising RESOLUTION source changes for fps-only updates
- keep live fps state across harmless S_FMT restarts
- stop exposing an unvalidated DV RX power-present signal
- clean the imported sources for checkpatch and W=1 builds
Validation:
- build-tested with W=1 against a local kernel build tree
- compiled the driver with ARCH=i386 allmodconfig and verified the
resulting hws_pci.o, hws_video.o, and hws.o do not reference
__udivdi3
- v4l2-compliance 1.33.0-5459 from v4l-utils commit

The RCade Display Adapter is a hardware device that allows driving an

imx8qxp_pxl2dpi_get_available_ep_from_port() returns ERR_PTR()
on errors. imx8qxp_pxl2dpi_find_next_bridge() stores its return
value in a __free(device_node) variable before checking IS_ERR().
When the function returns on the error path, the cleanup action calls
of_node_put() on the ERR_PTR() value.
Do not let a device_node cleanup variable hold error pointers. Change
imx8qxp_pxl2dpi_get_available_ep_from_port() to return an int and pass
the endpoint node through an output argument. Initialize the output
argument to NULL so callers hold either NULL on error paths or a valid
device_node pointer on successful path.

In qed_init_wfq_param(), variable non_requested_count can become zero
when the number of vports with the configured flag set (including the
current vport being configured) equals total num_vports. This happens
when configuring the last unconfigured vport or when re-configuring
an already configured vport.
The function then calculates left_rate_per_vp = total_left_rate /
non_requested_count, which causes division by zero.
Fix this by skipping the division when non_requested_count is zero.
In that case, there is no remaining bandwidth to distribute, so just
record the configuration for the current vport and return success.

The Motorcomm PHY driver reads optional firmware properties via
of_property_read_*() from phydev->mdio.dev.of_node. This works for
Device Tree based systems, but causes ACPI platforms to ignore the same
properties when they are supplied through _DSD.
As a result, ACPI-described Motorcomm PHY devices fall back to default
settings instead of applying firmware-provided tuning such as
rx/tx internal delay, drive strength, clock output frequency, and
optional boolean controls like auto-sleep-disabled,
keep-pll-enabled, and tx clock inversion.
Switch these lookups to device_property_read_*() so the driver uses the
generic firmware node interface and can consume the same property names
from either Device Tree or ACPI.
This keeps the existing DT behavior unchanged while allowing ACPI
platforms to honor PHY configuration from firmware.
We have completed testing on Sophgo RISC-V architecture server SD3-10.
This server has a 64-core Thead C920 CPU whose DWMAC is connected to
Motorcomm's PHY YT8531. This server supports UEFI boot and it would like
to use the ACPI table.

ena_phc_gettimex64() is setting the output parameter regardless
of whether ena_com_phc_get_timestamp() succeeded or failed.
When ena_com_phc_get_timestamp() returns an error, the timestamp
parameter may contain uninitialized stack memory (e.g., when PHC is
disabled or in blocked state) or invalid hardware values. Passing
these to userspace via the PTP ioctl is both a security issue
(information leak) and a correctness bug.
Fix by checking the return code after releasing the lock and only

The ATU base address was set in intel_pcie_host_setup(), which is called
via pp->ops->init(). However, dw_pcie_get_resources() runs before this
callback and sets a default atu_base of 0x300000, which then gets
overwritten by the driver's value of 0xC0000.
But this ordering is broken because atu_base must be set before
dw_pcie_get_resources() runs, not after. So move the atu_base assignment
from intel_pcie_host_setup() to intel_pcie_probe() to fix the
initialization order.
The call stack is:
intel_pcie_probe
dw_pcie_host_init
dw_pcie_host_get_resources
dw_pcie_get_resources <- sets atu_base = 0x300000
pp->ops->init
intel_pcie_rc_init
intel_pcie_host_setup <- was overwriting atu_base here
Additionally, add support for parsing the ATU region from the device tree.
If an 'atu' region is present in DT, the DWC core parses it via
dw_pcie_get_resources() and the driver does not set atu_base explicitly.
If 'atu' is absent, the driver falls back to the hardcoded offset (0xC0000
from DBI base) for backwards compatibility, with a warning to the user.

To ensure that the boot sequence is correct, the DWC PCIe core clock must
be switched on before PHY init call [1]. This changes are based on patched
kernel sources of the MaxLinear SDK.
The reason why the MaxLinear SDK is used as a reference here is, that this
PCIe DWC IP is used in the URX851 and URX850 SoC. This SoC was originally
developed by Intel when they acquired Lantiq’s home networking division in
2015 [2]. In 2020 the home network division was sold to MaxLinear [3].
Since then, this SoC belongs to MaxLinear. They use their own SDK, which
runs on kernel version '5.15.x'.

To improve the readability of the code, move the interrupt enable
instructions to a separate function. That is already done for the disable
interrupt instruction.
In addition, clear and disable all pending interrupts, as is done in
intel_pcie_core_irq_disable(). After that, enable all relevant interrupts
again. The 'PCIE_APP_IRNEN' definition contains all the relevant interrupts
that are of interest.
This change is also done in the MaxLinear SDK [1]. As I unfortunately don’t
have any documentation for this IP core, I suspect that the intention is to
set the IP core for interrupt handling to a specific state. Perhaps the
problem is that the IP core did not reinitialize the interrupt register
properly after a power cycle.
In my view, it can’t do any harm to switch the interrupt off and then on
again to set them to a specific state.

DC_RUN_WITH_PREEMPTION_ENABLED
[Why]
dcn32_validate_bandwidth() wraps dcn32_internal_validate_bw() with
DC_FP_START()/DC_FP_END(). In x86 non-RT, DC_FP_START takes fpregs_lock(),
which disables local softirqs.
The DML1 path through dcn32_enable_phantom_plane() calls kvzalloc() to
allocate ~335 KiB for dc_plane_state. This triggers the vmalloc path,
which calls BUG_ON(in_interrupt()) because it's invoked within the
FPU-enabled (softirq disabled) region, leading to a kernel crash.
[How]
Wrap the dc_state_create_phantom_plane() call with the
DC_RUN_WITH_PREEMPTION_ENABLED() macro to allow preemption during
this memory allocation.

This one was fortunately not looking so bad as the wait ioctl path, but
there were still a few things which could be fixed/improved:
1. Allocating with GFP_ATOMIC was quite unnecessary, we can do that
before taking the userq_lock.
2. Use a new mutex as protection for the fence_drv_xa so that we can do
memory allocations while holding it.
3. Starting the reset timer is unnecessary when the fence is already
signaled when we create it.
4. Cleanup error handling, avoid trying to free the queue when we don't
even got one.

There look to be some nasty races here when triggering the
invalidate_mappings hook:
1) We do xe_bo_alloc() followed by the attach, before the actual full bo
init step in xe_dma_buf_init_obj(). However the bo is visible on the
attachments list after the attach. This is bad since exporter driver,
say amdgpu, can at any time call back into our invalidate_mappings hook,
with an empty/bogus bo, leading to potential bugs/crashes.
2) Similar to 1) but here we get a UAF, when the invalidate_mappings
hook is triggered. For example, we get as far as xe_bo_init_locked()
but this fails in some way. But here the bo will be freed on error, but
we still have it attached from dma-buf pov, so if the
invalidate_mappings is now triggered then the bo we access is gone and
we trigger UAF and more bugs/crashes.
To fix this, move the attach step until after we actually have a fully
set up buffer object. Note that the bo is not published to userspace
until later, so not sure what the comment "Don't publish the bo
until we have a valid attachment", is referring to.
We have at least two different customers reporting hitting a NULL ptr
deref in evict_flags when importing something from amdgpu, followed by
triggering the evict flow. Hit rate is also pretty low, which would
hint at some kind of race, so something like 1) or 2) might explain
this.

The blitter engines' MEM_COPY and MEM_SET instructions were added as
part of the same hardware change that introduced service copy engines
(i.e., BCS1-BCS8) which is why the driver checks for service copy engine
presence when deciding whether to use these instructions or the older
XY_* instructions. However when making this decision the driver should
consider which engines are part of the hardware architecture, not which
engines are present/usable on the current device. For graphics IP
versions that architecturally include service copy engines (i.e.,
everything Xe2 and later, plus PVC's Xe_HPC) we should use MEM_SET and
MEM_COPY even in if all of the service copy engines wind up getting
fused off. I.e., we need to decide based on whether the platform's
graphics descriptor contains these engines, rather than whether the
usable engine mask contains them. This logic got broken when
gt->info.__engine_mask was removed, although in practice that mistake
has been harmless so far because there haven't been any hardware
SKUs that fuse off all of the service copy engines yet.
Replace the incorrect has_service_copy_support() function with a GT
feature flag that tracks more accurately whether the new blitter
instructions are usable. In addition to fixing incorrect logic if all
service copies are fused off, the flag also makes it more obvious what
the calling code is trying to do; previously it wasn't terribly obvious
why "has service copy engines" was being used as the condition for using
different instructions on all copy engine types.
The new feature flag is named 'has_xe2_blt_instructions' because we
expect this flag to be set for all Xe2 and later platforms (i.e.,
everything officially supported by the Xe driver). Technically there's
also one Xe1-era platform (PVC) that supports these engines/instructions
and will set this flag, but this still seems to be the most clear and
understandable name for the flag.

xe_bo_recompute_purgeable_state() walks all VMAs of a BO to determine
whether the BO can be made purgeable. This makes VMA create/destroy and
madvise updates O(n) in the number of mappings.
Replace the walk with BO-local counters protected by the BO dma-resv
lock:
- vma_count tracks the number of VMAs mapping the BO.
- willneed_count tracks active WILLNEED holders, including WILLNEED
VMAs and active dma-buf exports for non-imported BOs.
A DONTNEED BO is promoted back to WILLNEED on a 0->1 transition of
willneed_count. A BO is demoted to DONTNEED on a 1->0 transition only
when it still has VMAs, preserving the previous behaviour where a BO
with no mappings keeps its current madvise state.
PURGED remains terminal, preserving the existing "once purged, always
purged" rule.

xe_vma_create(), gated on attr->purgeable_state == WILLNEED.
Fixes vm_bind bypass and partial-unbind rejection on DONTNEED
BOs (Matt B).
- Drop .check_purged from MAP and REMAP; keep it for PREFETCH and
add a comment why (Matt B).
- Skip BO validation in vma_lock_and_validate() for non-WILLNEED
VMA remnants so cleanup/remap paths do not repopulate
DONTNEED/PURGED BOs.
