__rtrs_get_permit() scans permits_map with find_first_zero_bit() and
claims the bit with test_and_set_bit_lock(), restarting from bit 0 on a
lost race. Use find_next_zero_bit() to resume from the last position so
a lost race does not rescan the already-set low bits; on reaching the
end, wrap to the beginning to exhaust the map.

The client borrows shared CQ credits in the ADDR_RESOLVED handler via
ib_cq_pool_get(), before the peer is connected. create_cm() can return
-ERESTARTSYS from wait_event_interruptible_timeout() without destroying
the CM ID. The init_conns() and stop-and-destroy paths then call
destroy_con_cq_qp() while cq is still NULL (no PUT) and only afterwards
rdma_destroy_id().
CMA serializes the handler against rdma_destroy_id() with handler_mutex,
but that does not order the GET against destroy_con_cq_qp(). If
ADDR_RESOLVED has already passed the DESTROYING check, it can take
con_mutex, GET credits, and then lose the con to kfree. Device
unregister later hits WARN_ON(cq->cqe_used) in ib_cq_pool_cleanup().
Set a per-connection flag under con_mutex before CQ/QP teardown so a
racing ADDR_RESOLVED cannot borrow credits after teardown has begun.

In the client, if `init_path()` errors, the callee tries to clean up
with `rtrs_clt_close_conns()`. However, this can lead to calling the
event tracing code with `clt_path->kobj->name` being `NULL` and thus
causing a null pointer dereference when trying to copy from it.
This just adds a guard to check that the name is not `NULL` before
copying from it. The server appears to have a similar pattern.

The capability counter fields in struct ib_device_attr are declared
as signed int, but these values are inherently non-negative. Drivers
maintain their cached caps as u32 and assign them directly into these
int fields; if a cap exceeds INT_MAX the implicit narrowing yields a
negative value visible to the IB core.
Change the signed int capability fields to u32 to match the
underlying nature of the data. Also update consumers across the IB
core, ULPs, NVMe-oF target, RDS, and NFS/RDMA so the new u32 values
are not forced back through signed int or u8 via min()/min_t() or
narrowing local variables.
The nvmet-rdma consumer of max_srq clamps it against
ib_device.num_comp_vectors, which stays a signed int, so that site
uses min_t() instead of min() to handle the signed/unsigned mismatch.

When the server answers an RTRS READ, rdma_write_sg() builds the source
scatter/gather entry for the IB_WR_RDMA_WRITE that returns data to the
peer. Its length is taken directly from the wire descriptor:
plist->length = le32_to_cpu(id->rd_msg->desc[0].len);
rd_msg points into the chunk buffer that the remote peer filled via
RDMA-WRITE-WITH-IMM (rtrs_srv_rdma_done() -> process_io_req() ->
process_read()), so desc[0].len is attacker-controlled and, before this
change, was only rejected when zero. The source address is the fixed
chunk start (dma_addr[msg_id]) and the source lkey is the PD-wide
local_dma_lkey, which is not tied to the chunk's MR mapping, so the verbs
layer does not constrain the transfer length to max_chunk_size. msg_id
and off are bounded against queue_depth and max_chunk_size in
rtrs_srv_rdma_done(), but desc[0].len is a separate field that was not
checked against the chunk size.
A peer that advertises desc[0].len larger than max_chunk_size can make
the posted RDMA write read past the chunk's mapped region. The resulting
behaviour depends on the IOMMU configuration: with no IOMMU or in
passthrough mode the read may extend into memory adjacent to the chunk
and be returned to the peer, which can disclose host memory; with a
translating IOMMU the out-of-range access is expected to fault and abort
the connection. In either case the transfer exceeds what the protocol
permits and is driven by a remote peer.
Reject a descriptor length above max_chunk_size, mirroring the existing
off >= max_chunk_size bound in rtrs_srv_rdma_done(). Legitimate clients
do not exceed it: the client sets desc[0].len to its MR length, which is
capped at the negotiated max_io_size (max_chunk_size - MAX_HDR_SIZE).

usr_len is read from a network-supplied message field (le16_to_cpu)
and used to compute data_len = off - usr_len without validating that
usr_len <= off. A malicious RDMA client can send usr_len > off causing
an integer underflow, resulting in data_len wrapping to a huge size_t
value which is then passed to the rdma_ev callback as a memory length,
leading to out-of-bounds memory access.
Fix by reading and validating usr_len <= off before rtrs_srv_get_ops_ids()
in both process_read() and process_write(), ensuring the early return
path acquires no reference and has no resource leak.

Store the client path statistics in the RTRS client path allocation
instead of allocating them separately.
This ties the stats lifetime directly to the path and removes a separate
allocation failure path. Keep freeing the per-CPU stats data separately,
but do not free the embedded stats object from error paths or the stats
kobject release handler.

In the error path of rtrs_srv_create_path_files(), the sysfs root folders
may already have been created and srv_path->kobj may already have been
initialized. If a later step fails, the cleanup currently calls
kobject_put(&srv_path->kobj) before
rtrs_srv_destroy_once_sysfs_root_folders(srv_path).
kobject_put() may drop the last reference to srv_path->kobj and invoke the
release callback, rtrs_srv_release(), which frees srv_path. The following
call to rtrs_srv_destroy_once_sysfs_root_folders(srv_path) then
dereferences srv_path internally to access srv_path->srv, resulting in a
use-after-free.
This failure path is reached before rtrs_srv_create_path_files() returns
success, so the successful-path lifetime handling is not involved.
Fix this by destroying the sysfs root folders before calling
kobject_put(&srv_path->kobj), so srv_path is still valid while the helper
accesses it.
This issue was found by a static analysis tool I am developing.

This continues the effort to refactor workqueue APIs, which began with
the introduction of new workqueues and a new alloc_workqueue flag in:
commit 128ea9f6ccfb ("workqueue: Add system_percpu_wq and system_dfl_wq")
commit 930c2ea566af ("workqueue: Add new WQ_PERCPU flag")
The refactoring is going to alter the default behavior of
alloc_workqueue() to be unbound by default.
With the introduction of the WQ_PERCPU flag (equivalent to !WQ_UNBOUND),
any alloc_workqueue() caller that doesn’t explicitly specify WQ_UNBOUND
must now use WQ_PERCPU. For more details see the Link tag below.
In order to keep alloc_workqueue() behavior identical, explicitly request
WQ_PERCPU.

This converts some of the visually simpler cases that have been split
over multiple lines. I only did the ones that are easy to verify the
resulting diff by having just that final GFP_KERNEL argument on the next
line.
Somebody should probably do a proper coccinelle script for this, but for
me the trivial script actually resulted in an assertion failure in the
middle of the script. I probably had made it a bit _too_ trivial.
So after fighting that far a while I decided to just do some of the
syntactically simpler cases with variations of the previous 'sed'
scripts.
The more syntactically complex multi-line cases would mostly really want
whitespace cleanup anyway.

This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:
Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)
Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)
Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)
(where TYPE may also be *VAR)
The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

During several network incidents, a number of RTRS paths for a session
went through disconnect and reconnect phase. However, some of those did
not auto-reconnect successfully. Instead they failed with the following
logs,
On client,
kernel: rtrs_client L1991: <sess-name>: Connect rejected: status 28
(consumer defined), rtrs errno -104
kernel: rtrs_client L2698: <sess-name>: init_conns() failed: err=-104
path=gid:<gid1>@gid:<gid2> [mlx4_0:1]
On server, (log a)
kernel: ibtrs_server L1868: <>: Connection already exists: 0
When the misbehaving path was removed, and add_path was called to re-add
the path, the log on client side changed to, (log b)
kernel: rtrs_client L1991: <sess-name>: Connect rejected: status 28
(consumer defined), rtrs errno -17
There was no log on the server side for this, which is expected since
there is no logging in that path,
if (unlikely(__is_path_w_addr_exists(srv, &cm_id->route.addr))) {
err = -EEXIST;
goto err;
Because of the following check on server side,
if (unlikely(sess->state != IBTRS_SRV_CONNECTING)) {
ibtrs_err(s, "Session in wrong state: %s\n",
.. we know that the path in (log a) was in CONNECTING state.
The above state of the path persists for as long as we leave the session
be. This means that the path is in some zombie state, probably waiting
for the info_req packet to arrive, which never does.
The changes in this commits does 2 things.
1) Add logs at places where we see the errors happening. The logs would
shed more light at the state and lifetime of such zombie paths.
2) Close such zombie sessions, only if they are in CONNECTING state, and
after an inactivity period of 30 seconds.
i) The state check prevents closure of paths which are CONNECTED.
Also, from the above logs and code, we already know that the path could
only be on CONNECTING state, so we play safe and narrow our impact surface
area by closing only CONNECTING paths.
ii) The inactivity period is to allow requests for other cid to finish
processing, or for any stray packets to arrive/fail.

After device_initialize() is called, use put_device() to release the
device according to kernel device management rules. While direct
kfree() work in this case, using put_device() is more correct.

Move the declaration of the 'ib_sge list' variable outside the
'always_invalidate' block to ensure it remains accessible for use
throughout the function.
Previously, 'ib_sge list' was declared within the 'always_invalidate'
block, limiting its accessibility, then caused a
'BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference'[1].

For RTRS path establishment, RTRS client initiates and completes con_num
of connections. After establishing all its connections, the information
is exchanged between the client and server through the info_req message.
During this exchange, it is essential that all connections have been
established, and the state of the RTRS srv path is CONNECTED.
So add these sanity checks, to make sure we detect and abort process in
error scenarios to avoid null pointer deref.

In the function init_conns(), after the create_con() and create_cm() for
loop if something fails. In the cleanup for loop after the destroy tag, we
access out of bound memory because cid is set to clt_path->s.con_num.
This commits resets the cid to clt_path->s.con_num - 1, to stay in bounds
in the cleanup loop later.

In case of HB error, we need to know the specific path on which it
happened, for better debugging. Since the clt/srv path structures are not
available in rtrs.c, it needs to be done in the individual HB error
handler.
This commit add those loging. A sample kernel log output after this commit:
rtrs_core L357: <blya>: HB missed max reached.
rtrs_server L717: <blya>: HB err handler for path=ip:x.x.x.x@ip:x.x.x.x

rdma write, local invalidate, if only the last WR fail to send due

client mark the req->in_use to false in case of error in rtrs_clt_req
