git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/sysctl/sysctl
Pull sysctl updates from Joel Granados:
- Fix kernel-doc warnings by adjusting in file documentation
- Consolidate do_proc_* function into do_proc_vec
Consolidate three slightly different implementations of applying a
converter on all elements of a vector. Fixes to this function now
propagate to the three types.
- Replace CONFIG_PROC_SYSCTL with CONFIG_SYSCTL (they were the same)
and restrict cad_pid modifications to global root (GLOBAL_ROOT_UID)
* tag 'sysctl-7.03-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/sysctl/sysctl:
sysctl: remove CONFIG_PROC_SYSCTL, it just mirrors CONFIG_SYSCTL
sysctl: move the "cad_pid" entry from pid_table[] to kern_reboot_table[]
sysctl: repair some kernel-doc comments
sysctl: add Returns: kernel-doc for all functions
sysctl: Update API function documentation
sysctl: Rename proc_doulongvec_minmax_conv to proc_doulongvec_conv
sysctl: Group proc_handler declarations and document
sysctl: Replace do_proc_do{int,ulong,uint}vec with do_proc_vec
sysctl: Add negp parameter to douintvec converter functions
sysctl: Move default converter assignment out of do_proc_dointvec

mpls_select_multipath() calls mpls_multipath_hash() to choose a nexthop
when an MPLS route has multiple nexthops. While walking the MPLS label
stack, the hash routine caches hdr for the current label. After finding
the bottom-of-stack label, it calls pskb_may_pull() before reading the
inner IP header.
If an skb is constructed with the inner IP header in nonlinear data and
insufficient tailroom in the linear head, pskb_may_pull() calls
pskb_expand_head() to replace the skb head and free the old one. This
leaves hdr pointing to freed memory. The IPv6 path can invalidate hdr
again when it performs a second pull for the larger header.
The issue was found through static analysis. A reproducer sending a legal
Geneve packet through a bareudp/MPLS multipath setup triggered the same
KASAN report in 2 of 2 unpatched runs:

CONFIG_SYSCTL used to make sense as a separate hidden bool before commit
61a47c1ad3a4 ("sysctl: Remove the sysctl system call"); it was selected
by both CONFIG_SYSCTL_SYSCALL and CONFIG_PROC_SYSCTL.
Today CONFIG_PROC_SYSCTL is the only selector, so the two are always
equal. Kill the hidden bool, rename the PROC_SYSCTL prompt to SYSCTL,
and s/CONFIG_PROC_SYSCTL/CONFIG_SYSCTL/ tree-wide.

mpls_getroute() builds the RTM_NEWROUTE reply to an RTM_GETROUTE
request by filling a struct rtmsg allocated from an skb whose data
area is not zeroed (alloc_skb(NLMSG_GOODSIZE, ...)). It sets every
field of the header except rtm_tos:
r = nlmsg_data(nlh);
r->rtm_family = AF_MPLS;
r->rtm_dst_len = 20;
r->rtm_src_len = 0;
r->rtm_table = RT_TABLE_MAIN;
r->rtm_type = RTN_UNICAST;
r->rtm_scope = RT_SCOPE_UNIVERSE;
r->rtm_protocol = rt->rt_protocol;
r->rtm_flags = 0;
struct rtmsg has no padding, so the one uninitialised byte rtm_tos
(offset 3) is copied straight to user space on recvmsg(), leaking a
byte of uninitialised heap memory. This is in contrast to
mpls_dump_route(), which fills the very same header and does set
rtm_tos = 0.
Initialize rtm_tos to 0, matching mpls_dump_route().
Reproduced with KMSAN by adding an MPLS route and issuing a
non-RTM_F_FIB_MATCH RTM_GETROUTE for its label:

Commit f0914b8436c5 ("mpls: Hold dev refcnt for mpls_nh.") added
change_nexthops() loop to call netdev_put() for the nexthop devices
before freeing mpls_route.
Then, mpls_nh_build_multi() was also changed to avoid iterating
uninitialised nexthops in mpls_rt_free_rcu().
However, setting rt->rt_nhn to 0 at the entry of mpls_nh_build_multi()
makes the following change_nexthops() no-op.
Let's set rt->rt_nhn just before returning from mpls_nh_build_multi().

On CONFIG_INET=n builds, mpls_valid_fib_dump_req() walks the parsed
attribute table itself instead of calling ip_valid_fib_dump_req(). The
RTA_OIF arm passes tb[RTA_OIF] to nla_get_u32() without checking it is
present, so an RTM_GETROUTE dump for AF_MPLS with strict checking and no
RTA_OIF hits a NULL dereference.
RTM_GETROUTE is RTNL_KIND_GET, which rtnetlink_rcv_msg() permits without
CAP_NET_ADMIN, so an unprivileged user can trigger it.

Commit 22e36ea9f5d7 ("inet: allow ip_valid_fib_dump_req() to
be called with RTNL or RCU") introduced the rtnl_held field in
struct fib_dump_filter to switch __dev_get_by_index() and
dev_get_by_index_rcu() depending on the caller's context.
This field served as an interim measure while we were incrementally
converting all callers of ip_valid_fib_dump_req() to RCU.
Now that all users (IPv4, IPv6, ipmr, ip6mr, and MPLS) have
been converted to RCU, the field is no longer necessary.
Let's remove it.

The RCU-protected codepaths (mpls_forward, mpls_dump_routes) can have
an inconsistent view of platform_labels vs platform_label in case of a
concurrent resize (resize_platform_label_table, under
platform_mutex). This can lead to OOB accesses.
This patch adds a seqcount, so that we get a consistent snapshot.
Note that mpls_label_ok is also susceptible to this, so the check
against RTA_DST in rtm_to_route_config, done outside platform_mutex,
is not sufficient. This value gets passed to mpls_label_ok once more
in both mpls_route_add and mpls_route_del, so there is no issue, but
that additional check must not be removed.

This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:
Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)
Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)
Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)
(where TYPE may also be *VAR)
The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

MPLS uses RTNL
1) to guarantee the lifetime of struct mpls_nh.nh_dev
2) to protect net->mpls.platform_label
, but neither actually requires RTNL.
If we do not call dev_put() in find_outdev() and call it
just before freeing struct mpls_route, we can drop RTNL for 1).
Let's hold the refcnt of mpls_nh.nh_dev and track it with
netdevice_tracker.
Two notable changes:
If mpls_nh_build_multi() fails to set up a neighbour, we need
to call netdev_put() for successfully created neighbours in
mpls_rt_free_rcu(), so the number of neighbours (rt->rt_nhn)
is now updated in each iteration.
When a dev is unregistered, mpls_ifdown() clones mpls_route
and replaces it with the clone, so the clone requires extra
netdev_hold().

Since commit 1202cdd66531 ("Remove DECnet support from kernel"),
NEIGH_DN_TABLE is no longer used.
MPLS has implicit dependency on it in nla_put_via(), but nla_get_via()
does not support DECnet.
Let's remove NEIGH_DN_TABLE.
Now, neigh_tables[] has only 2 elements and no extra iteration
for DECnet in many places.

Since introduced, mpls_init() has been ignoring the returned
value of rtnl_register_module(), which could fail silently.
Handling the error allows users to view a module as an all-or-nothing
thing in terms of the rtnetlink functionality. This prevents syzkaller
from reporting spurious errors from its tests, where OOM often occurs
and module is automatically loaded.
Let's handle the errors by rtnl_register_many().

mpls_xmit() needs to prepend the MPLS-labels to the packet. That implies
one needs to make sure there is enough space for it in the headers.
Calling skb_cow() implies however that one wants to change even the
playload part of the packet (which is not true for MPLS). Thus, call
skb_cow_head() instead, which is what other tunnelling protocols do.
Running a server with this comm it entirely removed the calls to
pskb_expand_head() from the callstack in mpls_xmit() thus having
significant CPU-reduction, especially at peak times.

This commit comes at the tail end of a greater effort to remove the
empty elements at the end of the ctl_table arrays (sentinels) which
will reduce the overall build time size of the kernel and run time
memory bloat by ~64 bytes per sentinel (further information Link :
https://lore.kernel.org/all/ZO5Yx5JFogGi%2FcBo@bombadil.infradead.org/)
* Remove sentinel element from ctl_table structs.
* Remove the zeroing out of an array element (to make it look like a
sentinel) in neigh_sysctl_register and lowpan_frags_ns_sysctl_register
This is not longer needed and is safe after commit c899710fe7f9
("networking: Update to register_net_sysctl_sz") added the array size
to the ctl_table registration.
* Replace the for loop stop condition in sysctl_core_net_init that tests
for procname == NULL with one that depends on array size
* Removed the "-1" in mpls_net_init that adjusted for having an extra
empty element when looping over ctl_table arrays

This patch does a similar change for IPv4.
Instead of (struct rtable *)dst casts, we can use :
#define dst_rtable(_ptr) \
container_of_const(_ptr, struct rtable, dst)
Patch is smaller than IPv6 one, because IPv4 has skb_rtable() helper.

Add a "scope" parameter to ip_route_output() so that callers don't have
to override the tos parameter with the RTO_ONLINK flag if they want a
local scope.
This will allow converting flowi4_tos to dscp_t in the future, thus
allowing static analysers to flag invalid interactions between
"tos" (the DSCP bits) and ECN.
Only three users ask for local scope (bonding, arp and atm). The others
continue to use RT_SCOPE_UNIVERSE. While there, add a comment to warn

We observed that TCP-pacing was falling back to the TCP-layer pacing
instead of utilizing sch_fq for the pacing. This causes significant
CPU-usage due to the hrtimer running on a per-TCP-connection basis.
The issue is that mpls_xmit() calls skb_orphan() and thus sets
skb->sk to NULL. Which implies that many of the goodies of TCP won't
work. Pacing falls back to TCP-layer pacing. TCP Small Queues does not
work, ...
It is safe to remove this call to skb_orphan() in mpls_xmit() as there
really is not reason for it to be there. It appears that this call to
skb_orphan comes from the very initial implementation of MPLS.

Eric Dumazet said:

So add new skb_inner_network_header_was_set() helper and use that.
The syzbot reproducer injects data via packet socket. The skb that gets
allocated and passed down the stack has ->protocol set to NSH (0x894f)
and gso_type set to SKB_GSO_UDP | SKB_GSO_DODGY.
This gets passed to skb_mac_gso_segment(), which sees NSH as ptype to
find a callback for. nsh_gso_segment() retrieves next type:
proto = tun_p_to_eth_p(nsh_hdr(skb)->np);
... which is MPLS (TUN_P_MPLS_UC). It updates skb->protocol and then
calls mpls_gso_segment(). Inner offsets are all 0, so mpls_gso_segment()
ends up with a negative header size.
In case more callers rely on silent handling of such large may_pull values
we could also 'legalize' this behaviour, either replacing the debug check
with (len > INT_MAX) test or removing it and instead adding a comment
before existing
if (unlikely(len > skb->len))
return SKB_DROP_REASON_PKT_TOO_SMALL;
test in pskb_may_pull_reason(), saying that this check also implicitly
takes care of callers that miscompute header sizes.

Move from register_net_sysctl to register_net_sysctl_sz for all the
networking related files. Do this while making sure to mirror the NULL
assignments with a table_size of zero for the unprivileged users.
We need to move to the new function in preparation for when we change
SIZE_MAX to ARRAY_SIZE() in the register_net_sysctl macro. Failing to do
so would erroneously allow ARRAY_SIZE() to be called on a pointer. We
hold off the SIZE_MAX to ARRAY_SIZE change until we have migrated all
the relevant net sysctl registering functions to register_net_sysctl_sz
in subsequent commits.
An additional size function was added to the following files in order to
calculate the size of an array that is defined in another file:
include/net/ipv6.h
net/ipv6/icmp.c
net/ipv6/route.c
net/ipv6/sysctl_net_ipv6.c
