Pull USB / Thunderbolt updates from Greg KH:
"Here is the big set of USB and Thunderbolt driver updates for 7.3-rc1.
Lots of driver work for new devices and systems, and many other minor
fixes and updates. Included in here are:

Pull char/misc/IIO/etc driver updates from Greg KH:
"Here is the big set of char, misc, iio, counter, fpga, and other small
driver subsystems for 7.3-rc1.
Overall, due to some driver removals we only added a bit more code
than removed, which was a nice change. Highlights in this merge
request are:
- Loads of IIO driver updates and additions
- binder driver updates (more on that below...)
- Removal of the SGI XP and GRU drivers as they are not used anymore
and turn out to be pretty insecure overall
- Removal of the obsolete ibmasm driver as it's not being used
anymore
- Coresight driver updates and additions
- Mei driver udpates
- Counter driver updates
- FPGA driver updates
- ICC driver updates
- lots and lots of other tiny driver updates to resolve reported
issues
All of these have been in linux-next for a while"

When building the kernel using llvm-19.1.7-rust-1.85.0-x86_64, the
following symbols are generated:

However, these Rust symbols are trivial wrappers around the
`i2c_get_adapter` and `i2c_put_adapter` functions. It doesn't make sense
to go through a trivial wrapper for these functions.

Rust's 'core' library's 'From' implementations do not cover
conversions that are not portable or future-proof. However, the
kernel supports a narrower set of architectures, which makes it
helpful to provide more infallible conversions, instead of
having developers use 'as' casts, which carry the risk of
silently losing data
This goes along with previous work we did to avoid casts in
Rust kernel code since they are more powerful than needed
Thus, provide safe 'const' conversion functions (e.g.
'usize_as_u64' and 'u64_into_u8'), as well as the
'FromSafeCast' and 'IntoSafeCast' extension traits that provide
conversions that are known to be lossless in the kernel, and an
'arch' submodule defining conversions that are known to be
lossless on particular architectures (e.g. 64-bit platforms).

intel_idle driver updates and ACPI processor idle driver updates, both
mostly related to ACPI _LPI support.
There are also updates related to system sleep, mostly in the
hibernation core code, two operating performance points (OPP) updates,

Add irq_type() on IrqVectorRegistration and IrqVector, wrapping the new
pci_irq_type() C function. A driver whose interrupt acknowledgment
depends on the type (MSI-X vs MSI vs INTx) queries it here rather than
assuming which type the PCI core selected.

Remove the thin wrappers on Device<Bound> that only forwarded to
irq::Registration::new() and irq::ThreadedRegistration::new(). With
IrqVector embedding a resolved IrqRequest, the conversion is infallible
and drivers call irq::Registration::new(vector.into(), ...) directly.
Unlike the platform equivalents, which combine a fallible IRQ lookup
with handler registration, the PCI wrappers add no value beyond
namespacing. They also introduce a redundant device reference.
IrqVector already carries a device borrow through its embedded
IrqRequest, yet the wrappers required a second, potentially unrelated,
&self receiver.

Move the pci_irq_vector() call from the TryInto<IrqRequest> impl into
IrqVectorRegistration::index(), so the IRQ number is resolved eagerly.
IrqVector now embeds the resolved IrqRequest and a reference to the
IrqVectorRegistration. The conversion to IrqRequest is infallible, which
removes the need for pin_init_scope() in request_irq() /
request_threaded_irq().

Convert IrqVectorRegistration from a devres-managed internal type to a
lifetime-annotated type that owns the PCI interrupt vector allocation.
Dropping it frees the vectors.
IrqVector gains a reference to the IrqVectorRegistration it was derived
from. Since index() borrows the registration, the compiler prevents the
allocation from being dropped while any IrqVector (and hence any
irq::Registration built from it) is still live.
alloc_irq_vectors() returns IrqVectorRegistration<'_> directly, giving
drivers explicit control over the allocation lifetime, which is needed
by net and block drivers that re-allocate vectors at runtime, e.g.
during queue reconfiguration or device recovery.

Introduce safe Rust wrappers around struct fwctl_device and struct
fwctl_uctx. This lets Rust drivers register fwctl devices and implement
firmware RPC callbacks through a typed trait interface.
The abstraction keeps lifetime and reference-count handling inside the
wrapper, exposes pinned per-FD user contexts to drivers, and validates the
layout assumptions required by the C fwctl allocation model. Allocation
sizes are padded so the kmalloc-backed C allocations also satisfy Rust
alignment requirements.
Registration owns driver private data with a lifetime tied to the bound
parent device and verifies the parent identity before registration.
Callbacks access that data through a higher-ranked closure, preventing its
erased lifetime from escaping, while Device remains only the refcounted
fwctl object. This avoids requiring Rust drop glue from the fwctl_device
release path after unregister or module teardown.
RPC callbacks receive typed scope information, a mutable request/response
buffer, and the userspace output-buffer size. Response pointer conversion,
length validation, and raw output-length handling remain inside the
abstraction.
Add the Rust sources to the FWCTL MAINTAINERS entry and add myself as the
maintainer for the Rust abstractions.

The THIS_MODULE series [1] applied to rust-next moved ThisModule from
lib.rs into a module.rs submodule, making the tuple struct field private
outside the module. This breaks the module.0 field access in serdev in
driver-core-next.
Update the call to __serdev_device_driver_register() to use the public
module.as_ptr() accessor to fix the build.

The core library's `From` implementations do not cover conversions that
are not portable or future-proof. For instance, even though it is safe
today, `From<usize>` is not implemented for `u64` because of the
possibility of supporting larger-than-64bit architectures in the future.
However, the kernel supports a narrower set of architectures, with a
considerable amount of code that is architecture-specific. This makes it
helpful and desirable to provide more infallible conversions, lest we
rely on the `as` keyword and carry the risk of silently losing data.
Thus, introduce a new module `num::casts` that provides safe const
functions performing more conversions allowed by the build target, as
well as `FromSafeCast` and `IntoSafeCast` traits that are just
extensions of `From` and `Into` to conversions that are known to be
lossless.
Some conversions are architecture-specific: for instance, converting a
`u64` to a `usize` is only lossless on 64-bit platforms. These
conversions are made available via a dedicated `arch` sub-module.

Like commit 98f256e27262 ("rust: doctest: add LocalModule fallback
for #[vtable] ThisModule"), add another `LocalModule` struct with a
null-pointer `ModuleMetadata` `impl` for the `kernel` crate, so that
`crate::LocalModule` (auto-inserted by `#[vtable]`) resolves correctly
when there is no `module!` macro.
This will be needed by DRM to use `#[vtable]` `impl` blocks in KUnit
tests within the `kernel` crate [1].

Define a custom `kernel::fmt::Pointer` trait and `HashedPtr` wrapper
so that `{:p}` formatting uses the kernel's `%p` hashed format instead
of printing raw pointer values, preventing kernel address space leaks.

The `impl_fmt_adapter_forward!` macro forwards `Pointer` for
`Adapter<T>` by destructuring `self` into a local `t`, causing `{:p}`
to print the address of that temporary stack variable rather than the
actual pointer.
Remove `Pointer` from the macro and provide a manual impl for
`Adapter<&T>` that passes `self.0` directly.

All users have been migrated to `ModuleMetadata::THIS_MODULE` const or
`this_module::<LocalModule>()` helper. The `static THIS_MODULE`
generated by the `module!` macro is no longer referenced anywhere,
so remove it to avoid having two sources of the same `ThisModule`
pointer.

associated type on the trait side if not already defined, and

Since `const_refs_to_static` has been stable as of the MSRV bump, a
`ThisModule` pointer can now be used in const contexts.
Add a `THIS_MODULE` const to the `ModuleMetadata` trait so that modules
can provide their `ThisModule` pointer in const contexts such as static
`file_operations`.
Add a `this_module()` helper to retrieve the `THIS_MODULE` pointer of a
given module type, and update `__init` to use it instead of the
`THIS_MODULE` static generated by the `module!` macro.
The `static THIS_MODULE` generated by the `module!` macro is retained
for backwards compatibility with existing users and removed in a later
patch once all references have been migrated.

Move `Module`, `InPlaceModule`, `ModuleMetadata` and `ThisModule` from
`lib.rs` into a new `rust/kernel/module.rs`. Re-export them from `lib.rs`
to avoid tree-wide changes.
Switch six bus driver registrations from `module.0` to the public
`ThisModule::as_ptr()` accessor, since the field is no longer visible
outside the new `module` submodule.
No functional change.

Add `shr_exact` in the vein of `try_shrink` which shifts a bounded right
only if it loses no set bits. This is useful for getting a shifted down
integer while simultaneously checking that it's aligned.

Make `shr` reject shifts of at least the type's bit width at build
time, instead of panicking or masking the shift amount at runtime.

rust/uapi/uapi_helper.h was directly including <uapi/asm-generic/ioctl.h>
instead of the proper <uapi/linux/ioctl.h>.
On powerpc, <uapi/linux/ioctl.h> pulls in <uapi/asm/ioctl.h> first, which
defines _IOC_SIZEBITS, _IOC_DIRBITS, _IOC_NONE, and _IOC_WRITE with the
arch-specific values, before falling through to <asm-generic/ioctl.h>.
By bypassing that chain and including <asm-generic/ioctl.h> directly,
the arch-specific overrides never ran first, so when other headers in
the compilation later brought in the full arch-aware chain, Clang saw
those four macros being defined a second time and emitted:

Add a Jiffy time unit with isize as its representation and provide
Delta<Jiffy>::from_jiffies() and as_jiffies() as the unit-specific
constructor and accessor, mirroring from_nanos()/as_nanos() on the
nanosecond Delta.
Represent the jiffies span as isize: Delta is a signed span (nanoseconds
use i64) and, as a timeout, the value only needs to reach
MAX_JIFFY_OFFSET ((LONG_MAX >> 1) - 1). isize is signed and matches the
kernel's c_long, so it meets both.

Delta hardcodes its value as i64 nanoseconds. A later patch adds a
jiffies span, whose natural representation is isize jiffies rather than
i64 nanoseconds, and a separate type per unit would duplicate the
arithmetic and comparison machinery.
Make Delta generic over its time unit so the jiffies span can reuse that
machinery. The nanosecond Delta keeps its current representation and API
via the default unit parameter, so no functional change.

The ceiling adjustment used saturating_add(NSEC_PER_USEC - 1) before
dividing. Once the nanosecond value gets within NSEC_PER_USEC - 1 of
i64::MAX the addition saturates to i64::MAX, which drops the ceiling
bias and can yield a result one microsecond too small.

All types in `bindings` implement `Zeroable` if they can, so use
`pin_init::zeroed` instead of relying on `unsafe` code.
If this ends up not compiling in the future, something in bindgen or on

`SpinLockIrq` and `SpinLock` use the exact same underlying C structure,
with the only real difference being that the former uses the
irq_disable() and irq_enable() variants for locking/unlocking. These
variants can introduce some minor overhead in contexts where we already
know that local processor interrupts are disabled, and as such we want a
way to be able to skip modifying processor interrupt state in said
contexts in order to avoid some overhead - just like the current C API
allows us to do.
In order to do this, we add some special functions for SpinLockIrq:
lock_with() and try_lock_with(), which allow acquiring the lock without
changing the interrupt state - as long as the caller can provide a
LocalInterruptDisabled reference to prove that local processor
interrupts have been disabled.
In some hacked-together benchmarks we ran, most of the time this did
actually seem to lead to a noticeable difference in overhead:
From an aarch64 VM running on a MacBook M4:
lock() when irq is disabled, 100 times cost Delta { nanos: 500 }
lock_with() when irq is disabled, 100 times cost Delta { nanos: 292 }
lock() when irq is enabled, 100 times cost Delta { nanos: 834 }
lock() when irq is disabled, 100 times cost Delta { nanos: 459 }
lock_with() when irq is disabled, 100 times cost Delta { nanos: 291 }
lock() when irq is enabled, 100 times cost Delta { nanos: 709 }
From an x86_64 VM (qemu/kvm) running on a i7-13700H
lock() when irq is disabled, 100 times cost Delta { nanos: 1002 }
lock_with() when irq is disabled, 100 times cost Delta { nanos: 729 }
lock() when irq is enabled, 100 times cost Delta { nanos: 1516 }
lock() when irq is disabled, 100 times cost Delta { nanos: 754 }
lock_with() when irq is disabled, 100 times cost Delta { nanos: 966 }
lock() when irq is enabled, 100 times cost Delta { nanos: 1227 }
(note that there were some runs on x86_64 where lock() on irq
disabled vs. lock_with() on irq disabled had equivalent benchmarks,
but it very much appeared to be a minority of test runs.)
While it's not clear how this affects real-world workloads yet, let's
add this for the time being so we can find out.
This makes it so that a `SpinLockIrq` will work like a `SpinLock` if
interrupts are disabled. So a function:
(&'a SpinLockIrq, &'a LocalInterruptDisabled) -> Guard<'a, .., SpinLockBackend>
makes sense. Note that due to `Guard` and `LocalInterruptDisabled`
having the same lifetime, interrupts cannot be enabled while the Guard
exists.

A variant of `SpinLock` that ensures interrupts are disabled in the
critical section. `lock()` will ensure that either interrupts are
already disabled or disable them. `unlock()` will reverse the respective
operation.
