Add PTP clock support for the ZL3073x DPLL driver. A PTP clock device
is registered for each DPLL channel regardless of the initial channel
state, providing gettimex64, settime64, adjtime, adjfine, adjphase
and getmaxphase callbacks.
Callback availability depends on the current channel state:
- adjfine: when NCO pin is connected (returns -EOPNOTSUPP otherwise)
- adjphase: available when tracking a reference, uses TIE write
- adjtime: always available and uses
* phase step for sub-second deltas when NCO pin is connected
* TIE write when tracking a reference
* plain ToD read-modify-write otherwise
- gettime/settime: always available
The adjtime callback splits multi-second adjustments into a ToD
read-modify-write for the seconds part and a sub-second mechanism
(phase step or TIE write) for the remainder. On partial failure
where seconds were already committed, success is returned to
prevent the PTP servo from retrying and applying seconds again.
All PTP callbacks are serialized by the existing per-DPLL zldpll->lock
mutex, which is also used by DPLL pin and device callbacks.

Add low-level DPLL channel operations for ToD read/write/adjust,
output phase step, delta frequency offset write and TIE (Time
Interval Error) write. These serve as building blocks for the PTP
clock callbacks added in the next patch.
ToD operations use a wait-before-write pattern to avoid blocking
after each operation.
The tod_ready_wait helper selects the poll timeout based on the
current ToD command - write operations use a longer timeout (1000 ms)
than reads (30 ms).
The ToD read captures system timestamps (ptp_system_timestamp) around
the HW command and completion poll to support cross-timestamping.
The TIE write operation provides sub-picosecond resolution phase
adjustment for modes where the DPLL is tracking a reference
(AUTO and REFLOCK).
Add output step-time mask to struct zl3073x_dev and
zl3073x_dev_out_is_stepped() helper to check if an output
participates in step-time operations.

Replace the fixed 10 us poll sleep in zl3073x_poll_zero_u8() with
timeout_us / 50, scaling the sleep interval proportionally to the
timeout for all callers.
Testing showed that existing callers (mailbox, HWREG, DF read,
frequency measurement and phase error polls with 25-50 ms timeouts)
typically completed in low hundreds of sleep cycles with the fixed
10 us interval. With the scaled interval the cycle count drops to
single digits. The longer PTP-related timeouts (up to 3000 ms for
phase step) added in the following patches benefit most, avoiding
on the order of 10^5 bus transactions per wait.

When the last owner of a dpll device unregisters while a foreign driver
still holds a pin on it via dpll_pin_on_pin_register(), the dpll object
stays alive with an empty registration list. A pin notification queued
before the unregister (e.g. ice reacting to zl3073x_i2c removal) then
walks pin->dpll_refs into dpll_device_ops(), which trips the WARN_ON and
dereferences the missing registration. dpll_lock cannot help because the
notification work was queued before the unregistering driver took the
lock.
Treat the empty registration list as a legitimate transient state. Make
dpll_priv() and dpll_device_ops() return NULL in that case and make
every pin netlink path that resolves a device from a pin skip such
dplls. dpll_cmd_pin_get_one() picks a ref with a live registration and
returns -ENODEV when there is none, the pin dumpit skips such a pin
instead of aborting the dump, dpll_msg_add_pin_dplls() and the
frequency, esync, reference sync and phase adjust set paths skip dead
refs, and dpll_pin_parent_device_set() validates the parent with
dpll_device_get_by_id(). dpll_pin_register() is the last caller that
dereferenced the device ops without a check, so move its frequency
monitor validation under dpll_lock and tolerate a missing registration
there as well.
The empty registration list is equivalent to a cleared DPLL_REGISTERED
mark, both transitions happen under dpll_lock in dpll_device_register()
and dpll_device_unregister(). A pin notification for a pin whose dplls
are all gone is now dropped with -ENODEV instead of crashing, all
callers in the core ignore that return value.

Pin-level attributes (frequency, phase adjust, embedded sync, reference
sync) are properties of the pin itself, not of a particular DPLL device.
The get callbacks already use only the pin owner's DPLL reference
(via dpll_pin_own_dpll_ref_first()), but the set callbacks iterate over
all registered DPLL references and invoke the set operation on each one.
This is redundant because a pin is a single physical entity - setting
its frequency or phase adjust once through the owner's ops is sufficient.
Calling set on every registered DPLL just results in duplicate HW writes
for drivers that share a pin across multiple DPLL devices (e.g. ice
registers each input pin with both the EEC and PPS DPLL, zl3073x
registers input pins with every DPLL channel).
Simplify dpll_pin_freq_set(), dpll_pin_esync_set(),
dpll_pin_ref_sync_state_set() and dpll_pin_phase_adj_set() to call the
set callback only through the owner's DPLL reference, matching the
existing get-side behavior. This removes the xa_for_each iteration
loops, the now-unnecessary rollback logic, and several local variables.
The -EOPNOTSUPP validation loop, which checked ops support across all
owner-matching references, is replaced with a direct check on the
single owner reference returned by dpll_pin_own_dpll_ref_first().
The documentation in dpll.rst is updated to reflect that pin-level
attributes are set through the pin owner's dpll reference only.
No existing driver is affected:
- ptp_ocp and mlx5 register each pin with a single DPLL.
- ice registers input pins with two DPLLs (EEC and PPS) using
identical ops and pin_priv; the set callbacks address the HW by
pin index, not by DPLL, so the second call was a no-op.
- zl3073x registers input pins with every DPLL channel; the set
callbacks address HW by pin/ref ID regardless of DPLL. The
ref_sync_set callback was the only one with per-channel behavior,
addressed by the preceding patch.

zl3073x_dpll_input_pin_ref_sync_set() excludes the sync source from
automatic reference selection by setting its priority to NONE, but
currently only does this on the single DPLL channel whose pin_priv
was passed to the callback.
Since input pins are registered with every DPLL channel, the datasheet
recommends covering all channels to prevent the sync source from
remaining a selectable candidate on the other channels. This is
a preparation for the following patch which changes the DPLL core to
invoke pin-level set callbacks only through the pin owner's reference
instead of iterating over all registered DPLL devices.
Replace the single-channel priority write with a list_for_each_entry()
loop over all DPLL channels. Each channel's lock is acquired
individually for its read-modify-write sequence. The guard(mutex) is
replaced with explicit mutex_lock/mutex_unlock to allow releasing the
owner's lock before iterating, avoiding nested locking of the same
mutex class. A change notification is sent for the sync pin if any
channel's priority was actually modified.

The Microchip ZL30643 is a 3-channel ZL3064x line-card part that is
register compatible with the ZL30733. Only the runtime chip-ID table
needs the 0x0E3B entry so the probe resolves the channel count (3)
and flags.
The ZL3073X_FLAG_REF_PHASE_COMP_32 flag applies unchanged: the
ref_phase path
dpll_meas_ctrl::en -> ref_phase_0P/0N
-> ref_phase_offset_compensation -> ref_phase_err_read_rqst
is identical between ZL3064x and ZL3073x. No new device flag is needed.
Test: once register, for instance, we get:

Commit c191b319f208 ("dpll: allow registering FW-identified pin with a
different DPLL") relaxed dpll_pin_register() to let fwnode-identified pins
register with DPLLs from a different driver. This allows, for example, the
ICE driver to register a zl3073x-created pin with its TXC DPLL using
ice_dpll_txclk_ops, which lack frequency_get and phase_adjust_get
callbacks.
After such cross-driver registration, the pin's dpll_refs xarray contains
refs from both drivers. dpll_cmd_pin_get_one() calls
dpll_xa_ref_dpll_first() which returns the ref with the lowest DPLL id.
When the foreign DPLL (e.g. ICE TXC) has a lower id than the owner DPLL
(e.g. zl3073x), the foreign ops are used for reporting. Since those ops
lack callbacks like frequency_get, pin-level attributes are silently
omitted from the netlink response.
For example, a zl3073x output pin that should report frequency and
phase-adjust shows neither:

Fix this by:
1. Adding dpll_pin_own_dpll_ref_first() helper that returns the first ref
whose DPLL matches the pin's (module, clock_id) tuple -- i.e. the DPLL
from the driver that created the pin and has the complete set of ops.
Return NULL if no owner ref is found.
2. Using dpll_pin_own_dpll_ref_first() in dpll_cmd_pin_get_one() with a
fallback to dpll_xa_ref_dpll_first() for pin-on-pin child pins whose
dpll_refs all point to a different driver's DPLLs.
3. Using dpll_pin_own_dpll_ref_first() in SET operations
(dpll_pin_freq_set, dpll_pin_esync_set, dpll_pin_ref_sync_state_set,
dpll_pin_phase_adj_set) returning -ENODEV if no owner ref exists.
Replacing the validation loops that rejected the entire operation when
any ref's ops lacked the required callback -- instead validate only the
owner refs so that foreign DPLLs with incomplete ops no longer block
SET operations.
4. Guarding all SET and rollback xa_for_each loops against NULL set
callbacks so that foreign refs without the operation are safely skipped
instead of causing a NULL pointer dereference.

When a dpll_pin is shared across multiple dpll_device instances and
those devices are being unregistered (e.g. during driver module removal),
a NULL pointer dereference can occur in dpll_msg_add_pin_ref_sync().
This happens under the following conditions:
- A pin is registered with two or more dpll devices (dpll_A, dpll_B)
- The pin has ref_sync pairs with other pins
- During unregistration of dpll_A's pins, a ref_sync partner pin is
unregistered first, removing it from dpll_A->pin_refs
- But since the partner pin is still registered with dpll_B, its
dpll_refs is not empty, so dpll_pin_ref_sync_pair_del() does NOT
run and the partner stays in the pin's ref_sync_pins xarray
- When the pin itself is then unregistered from dpll_A, the delete
notification calls dpll_msg_add_pin_ref_sync() which finds the
partner in ref_sync_pins, passes dpll_pin_available() (partner is
still registered with dpll_B), but dpll_pin_on_dpll_priv(dpll_A,
partner) returns NULL because partner was already removed from
dpll_A->pin_refs
- The NULL priv pointer is passed to the driver's ref_sync_get
callback, which dereferences it

Add a virtual NCO (Numerically Controlled Oscillator) input pin that
lets userspace switch a DPLL channel into NCO mode. A single NCO pin
is shared across all DPLL channels - each channel has its own
independent connection state. The NCO pin is registered with the new
DPLL_PIN_TYPE_INT_NCO type and reports DPLL_PIN_STATE_CONNECTED /
DPLL_PIN_OPERSTATE_ACTIVE when the channel is in NCO mode.
At NCO pin registration the following bits are configured in
dpll_ctrl_x:
- nco_auto_read: auto-capture tracking offset on NCO entry
- tod_step_reset: apply negated ToD step accumulator on NCO exit
- tie_clear: PPS DPLLs set 1 to re-align outputs on NCO exit,
EEC DPLLs keep 0 to prevent an unwanted TIE write
Before switching to NCO mode, dpll_df_read_x is configured with
ref_ofst=0 and cmd=ACC_I so that nco_auto_read captures the
accumulated I-part offset relative to the master clock. Without
this, the captured df_offset would be near zero (offset relative
to the input reference after lock).
On NCO entry the df_offset captured by nco_auto_read is read from
the register. Per the datasheet, nco_auto_read only captures a valid
offset when entering NCO from reflock, auto or holdover mode; from
freerun the captured value is not meaningful and df_offset is marked as
ZL_DPLL_DF_OFFSET_UNKNOWN. The same sentinel is set in
chan_state_update() when the channel is not locked, and both FFO
consumers (NCO pin and input pin) guard against it.
Disconnecting the NCO pin switches to freerun rather than holdover
because holdover averaging is not updated during NCO mode.
When connecting the NCO pin displaces a previously connected input
pin (reflock mode), a change notification is sent for that input pin.
Input reference pins are now always registered regardless of the
initial DPLL mode. Previously they were skipped when the DPLL was
in NCO mode, but the NCO pin provides the proper mechanism for
mode transitions.

Add a per-DPLL mutex that serializes all operations on a given DPLL
channel across DPLL netlink callbacks, the periodic kthread worker,
and (in subsequent patches) PTP clock callbacks.
All DPLL pin and device callbacks that access mutable state take the
lock as the first operation. The periodic worker holds it for the
entire check cycle of each channel, deferring change notifications
until after the lock is released to avoid ABBA deadlock with
dpll_lock. This establishes the lock ordering:
dpll_lock (subsystem, outer) -> zldpll->lock (driver, inner).
Move zl3073x_chan_state_update() from the per-device
zl3073x_dev_chan_states_update() loop into the per-DPLL
zl3073x_dpll_changes_check() so it runs under zldpll->lock.
This serializes df_offset writes with all readers and
eliminates the need for separate df_offset synchronization.
Change pin->freq_offset from atomic64_t to plain s64 since all
readers and writers are now serialized by zldpll->lock, making
atomic access unnecessary.

Pins registered with an fwnode may have .state_on_dpll_set implemented
without advertising DPLL_PIN_CAPABILITIES_STATE_CAN_CHANGE upfront.
Requiring the bit for fwnode pins ties firmware description to driver
implementation details unnecessarily.
Relax the capability check in dpll_pin_state_set() and
dpll_pin_on_pin_state_set(): when a pin has an associated fwnode, bypass
the capability gate and let the ops layer decide, returning -EOPNOTSUPP
if .state_on_dpll_set is absent. Non-fwnode pins retain the original
strict behavior.
This is used later in the series by the SyncE_Ref output pin, which
relies on the fwnode path for state control.

Extend the DPLL pin notification API to include a source identifier
indicating where the notification originates. This allows notifier
consumers to distinguish between notifications coming from
an associated DPLL instance, a parent pin, or the pin itself.
A new field, src_clock_id, is added to struct dpll_pin_notifier_info
and is passed through all pin-related notification paths. Callers of
dpll_pin_notify() are updated to provide a meaningful source identifier
based on their context:
- pin registration/unregistration uses the DPLL's clock_id,
- pin-on-pin operations use the parent pin's clock_id,
- pin changes use the pin's own clock_id.
As introduced in the commit ("dpll: allow registering FW-identified pin
with a different DPLL"), it is possible to share the same physical pin
via firmware description (fwnode) with DPLL objects from different
kernel modules. This means that a given pin can be registered multiple
times.
Driver such as ICE (E825 devices) rely on this mechanism when listening
for the event where a shared-fwnode pin appears, while avoiding reacting
to events triggered by their own registration logic.
This change only extends the notification metadata and does not alter
existing semantics for drivers that do not use the new field.

__dpll_pin_register() emits dpll_pin_create_ntf() internally, but
__dpll_pin_unregister() left the matching delete to its callers. The

The rollback path in dpll_pin_on_pin_register() called
__dpll_pin_unregister() before dpll_pin_delete_ntf(). When the

Neither parent->dpll_refs nor pin->dpll_refs on its own is a correct
iteration target at unregister time:
- pin->dpll_refs includes DPLLs the child was registered against
via a different parent or directly; blind unregister WARNs on
the cookie miss in dpll_xa_ref_pin_del().
- parent->dpll_refs reflects the parent's current attachments, not
those at child-register time. Another driver may have (un)reg'd
the parent against additional DPLLs in the meantime, so we miss
registrations that exist and visit DPLLs that have none.
Walk pin->dpll_refs and use dpll_pin_registration_find() to filter
to entries whose cookie is this parent. Symmetric with

Relax the (module, clock_id) equality requirement when registering a
pin identified by firmware (pin->fwnode). Some platforms associate a
FW-described pin with a DPLL instance that differs from the pin's
(module, clock_id) tuple. For such pins, permit registration without
requiring the strict match. Non-FW pins still require equality.
Keep netlink pin module reporting/filtering safe for this relaxed
registration model by caching the module name in the pin object at
allocation time and using the cached string in netlink paths.
This avoids dereferencing pin->module after provider module teardown.

Add DPLL_TYPE_GENERIC to represent DPLL devices which do not fit the
existing PPS or EEC classes.
The UAPI type is intentionally generic. During netdev discussion,
maintainers pointed out that introducing identifiers tied to a specific
placement or single design does not scale across ASICs and vendors.
The role of a DPLL is already inferable from the spawning driver,
bus device, and pin topology, without encoding additional
purpose-specific taxonomy in the type name.
Using a generic type keeps the UAPI extensible and avoids premature
naming that may become incorrect as new hardware topologies are
exposed through the DPLL subsystem.
Expose the new type through UAPI and netlink specification as "generic".

The frequency monitoring feature uses shared hardware registers
that measure input reference frequencies independently of
individual DPLL channels. However, the freq_monitor flag was
incorrectly placed in the per-DPLL structure, causing each
channel to track its own enable/disable state independently.
Since the DPLL core calls measured_freq_get() only for the first
pin registration, the measured_freq_check() in the periodic worker
was gated by the per-DPLL freq_monitor flag of whichever channel
happens to be checked. If the first DPLL channel had frequency
monitoring disabled while another had it enabled, measurements
were never reported.
Move freq_monitor from struct zl3073x_dpll to struct zl3073x_dev
so all DPLL channels share a single flag, matching the hardware
behavior. Update freq_monitor_set() to notify other DPLL devices
about the change (like phase_offset_avg_factor_set() already does)
and remove the mode-dependent guard in zl3073x_dpll_changes_check()
since all input pin monitoring (pin state, phase offset, FFO, and
measured frequency) works correctly in all DPLL modes.

The change_work was introduced to send device change notifications
from DPLL device callbacks without deadlocking on dpll_lock, since
the callbacks are already invoked under that lock. Now that
__dpll_device_change_ntf() is exported for callers that already
hold dpll_lock, use it directly and remove the change_work

If zl3073x_dpll_pin_register() fails, the allocated pin is not yet
added to zldpll->pins list. The error path calls
zl3073x_dpll_pins_unregister() which only iterates pins on the list,
so the current pin is leaked. Free the pin before jumping to the error
label.
Additionally move the pin->dpll_pin = NULL assignment in
zl3073x_dpll_pin_register() from err_register to the common
err_pin_get path. When dpll_pin_get() fails, pin->dpll_pin holds an
ERR_PTR value. Without this fix the subsequent zl3073x_dpll_pin_free()
would trigger a spurious WARN because it checks pin->dpll_pin for
non-NULL.

Replace the per-reference frequency offset measurement (which was
redundant with measured-frequency) with a direct read of the DPLL's
delta frequency offset vs its tracked input reference.
The new implementation uses the dpll_df_offset_x register with
ref_ofst=1 via the dpll_df_read_x semaphore mechanism. This
provides 2^-48 resolution (~3.5 fE) and reports the actual
frequency difference between the DPLL and its active input.
Switch supported_ffo from DPLL_FFO_PORT_RXTX_RATE to
DPLL_FFO_PIN_DEVICE so FFO is reported only in the per-parent
context for the active input pin.
Use atomic64_t for freq_offset to prevent torn reads on 32-bit
architectures between the periodic worker and netlink callbacks.

instead of using the old per-reference measurement. Remove the
ref_ffo_update periodic measurement and the ref ffo field since

Add support for ref-sync pair registration using the 'ref-sync-sources'
phandle property from device tree. A ref-sync pair consists of a clock
reference and a low-frequency sync signal where the DPLL locks to the
clock reference but phase-aligns to the sync reference.
The implementation:
- Stores fwnode handle in zl3073x_dpll_pin during pin registration
- Adds ref_sync_get/set callbacks to read and write the sync control
mode and pair registers
- Validates ref-sync frequency constraints: sync signal must be 8 kHz
or less, clock reference must be 1 kHz or more and higher than sync
- Excludes sync source from automatic reference selection by setting
its priority to NONE on connect; on disconnect the priority is left
as NONE and the user must explicitly make the pin selectable again

Return -EOPNOTSUPP early in esync_get callbacks when esync is not
supported instead of conditionally populating the range at the end.
This simplifies the control flow by removing the finish label/goto
in the output variant and the conditional range assignment in both
input and output variants.
Replace open-coded N-div signal format switch statements with
zl3073x_out_is_ndiv() helper in esync_get, esync_set and
frequency_set callbacks.

Extract common measurement latch logic from zl3073x_ref_ffo_update()
into a new zl3073x_ref_freq_meas_latch() helper and add
zl3073x_ref_freq_meas_update() that uses it to latch and read absolute
input reference frequencies in Hz.
Add meas_freq field to struct zl3073x_ref and the corresponding
zl3073x_ref_meas_freq_get() accessor. The measured frequencies are
updated periodically alongside the existing FFO measurements.
Add freq_monitor boolean to struct zl3073x_dpll and implement the
freq_monitor_set/get device callbacks to enable/disable frequency
monitoring via the DPLL netlink interface.
Implement measured_freq_get pin callback for input pins that returns the
measured input frequency in mHz.

Add new callback operations for a dpll device:
- freq_monitor_get(..) - to obtain current state of frequency monitor
feature from dpll device,
- freq_monitor_set(..) - to allow feature configuration.
Add new callback operation for a dpll pin:
- measured_freq_get(..) - to obtain the measured frequency in mHz.
Obtain the feature state value using the get callback and provide it to
the user if the device driver implements callbacks. The measured_freq_get
pin callback is only invoked when the frequency monitor is enabled.
The freq_monitor_get device callback is required when measured_freq_get
is provided by the driver.
Execute the set callback upon user requests.
