Commit 7e53b31acc7f ("RDMA/core: Create and destroy rdma_counter using
rdma_zalloc_drv_obj()") requires drivers implementing counter ops to
embed struct rdma_counter in a driver-specific struct, register its size
via INIT_RDMA_OBJ_SIZE, and provide a counter_init callback.
The ionic driver was merged without this adaptation, causing a NULL
pointer dereference in alloc_and_bind() since rdma_zalloc_drv_obj()
allocates zero bytes when size_rdma_counter is unset.
Consolidate struct ionic_counter into a new struct ionic_rdma_counter
that embeds struct rdma_counter, replace the xarray with a lightweight
ida for ID allocation, and add the required counter_init and
INIT_RDMA_OBJ_SIZE declarations.

ionic_fill_lif_cfg() reads eq_count from firmware uncapped, but the
eth driver only reserves ionic->neqs_per_lif MSI-X vectors for RDMA
event queues. Since ionic_rdma probes via the auxiliary bus before
the netdev is brought up, it can exhaust the shared interrupt bitmap,
causing ionic_open() to fail with -ENOSPC when allocating rx/tx
interrupts.
Cap RDMA eq_count to neqs_per_lif, which is populated by
ionic_lif_size() at PCI probe before the RDMA aux device registers.

Enable user space applications to access the PHC state page when
firmware RDMA completion timestamp is supported.
This mapping allows user space to convert RDMA completion timestamps
to system wall time without kernel transitions, minimizing latency
overhead. Applications can directly read the PHC state through mmap,
enabling efficient timestamp correlation for precision timing
applications.

Enable the robust udata contract by setting uverbs_robust_udata and
adding proper input validation and output handling to all verbs that
accept struct ib_udata.
For verbs with no driver request or response struct, add
ib_no_udata_io(). For create_ah, which already responds with
ionic_ah_resp, add the missing input validation via
ib_is_udata_in_empty().

The query_device callbacks that neither accept driver-specific input nor
return a driver-specific response open-code the empty udata handling as
ib_is_udata_in_empty() on entry and ib_respond_empty_udata() on exit.
ib_no_udata_io() already combines both steps, so replace the entry check
with it and simply return 0 on success.
Unlike the create and destroy flows, query_device owns no uobject or HW
resource - the extended path fills a stack ib_device_attr that the core
discards on error - so clearing the empty response buffer on entry rather
than on exit is a mechanical change with no functional difference.

Rate limit transition validation for RC QPs currently relies on
the IB core qp_state_table. Add a driver-level helper to validate
the rate limit attribute directly during QP modify, ensuring it
is only accepted for RC QPs in INIT->RTR, RTR->RTS and RTS->RTS
transitions.
This makes the driver responsible for rate limit validation
and prepares for a follow-up IB core change that delegates
IB_QP_RATE_LIMIT and all future non-standard modify attributes
handling to individual vendor drivers.

This op hasn't followed the normal pattern of passing NULL for udata when
invoked by the kernel. Instead the kernel caller creates a dummy ib_udata
on the stack and passes that in. It does not seem to currently be a bug,
but this flow should be modernized to use the new API flow and in the
process accept NULL as well.
Only mlx4 uses an input request structure, have every other driver call
ib_is_udata_in_empty() to enforce the lack of request structs.
Use ib_respond_empty_udata() in every driver that does not use a response
struct.
Ensure a check for NULL udata before calling ib_respond_udata() in
bnxt_re, efa, and mlx5.
Make mlx4 safe to be called with NULL.

The new umem getter family being introduced in follow-up patches
need a fitting name for the central all-source helper that resolves
attributes, legacy fillers and a UHW VA fallback.
Rename the existing VA-pinning helper ib_umem_get() to ib_umem_get_va()
so the name is freed up. The new name is consistent with names of rest
of the helpers that are about to be introduced.

node_desc[64] in struct ib_device is not guaranteed to be NUL-
terminated. The core IB sysfs handler uses "%.64s" for exactly this
reason (drivers/infiniband/core/sysfs.c:1307), since node_desc_store()
performs a raw memcpy of up to IB_DEVICE_NODE_DESC_MAX bytes with no NUL
termination:
memcpy(desc.node_desc, buf, min_t(int, count, IB_DEVICE_NODE_DESC_MAX));
If exactly 64 bytes are written via the node_desc sysfs file, the array
contains no NUL byte. The ionic hca_type_show() handler uses unbounded
"%s" and will read past the end of node_desc into adjacent fields of
struct ib_device until it encounters a NUL.
ionic supports IB_DEVICE_MODIFY_NODE_DESC, so this is triggerable by
userspace.
Match the core handler and bound the format specifier.

This series adds support for Transaction Layer Packet (TLP) emulation
response gateway regions, enabling userspace device emulation software
to write TLP responses directly to lower layers without kernel driver
involvement.
Currently, the mlx5 driver exposes VirtIO emulation access regions via
the MLX5_IB_METHOD_VAR_OBJ_ALLOC ioctl. This series extends that
ioctl to also support allocating TLP response gateway channels for
PCI device emulation use cases.

ionic_build_hdr() populated the Ethernet source MAC (hdr->eth.smac_h) by
passing the header’s storage directly to rdma_read_gid_l2_fields().
However, ib_ud_header_init() is called after that and re-initializes the
UD header, which wipes the previously written smac_h. As a result, packets
are emitted with an zero source MAC address on the wire.
Correct the source MAC by reading the GID-derived smac into a temporary
buffer and copy it after ib_ud_header_init() completes.

The DMA iterator logic was mixed into verbs and umem-specific code,
forcing all users to include rdma/ib_umem.h. Move the block iterator
logic into iter.c and rdma/iter.h so that rdma/ib_umem.h and
rdma/ib_verbs.h can be separated in a follow-up patch.

cqid[2]: The loop at line 1256 iterates over udma_idx but skips indices
where !(vcq->udma_mask & BIT(udma_idx)). The array has 2 entries but
udma_count could be 1, meaning cqid[1] might never be written via
ionic_create_cq_common(). If udma_mask only has bit 0 set, cqid[1] (4
bytes) is also leaked. So potentially 11 bytes leaked.

The function ionic_query_port() calls ib_device_get_netdev() without
checking the return value which could lead to NULL pointer dereference,
Fix it by checking the return value and return -ENODEV if the 'ndev' is
NULL.

This converts some of the visually simpler cases that have been split
over multiple lines. I only did the ones that are easy to verify the
resulting diff by having just that final GFP_KERNEL argument on the next
line.
Somebody should probably do a proper coccinelle script for this, but for
me the trivial script actually resulted in an assertion failure in the
middle of the script. I probably had made it a bit _too_ trivial.
So after fighting that far a while I decided to just do some of the
syntactically simpler cases with variations of the previous 'sed'
scripts.
The more syntactically complex multi-line cases would mostly really want
whitespace cleanup anyway.

This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:
Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)
Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)
Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)
(where TYPE may also be *VAR)
The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

The admin queue work request buffer, aq->q_wr, is allocated via kcalloc in
__ionic_create_rdma_adminq. However, it was not being freed in the
corresponding teardown function __ionic_destroy_rdma_adminq. This results
in a memory leak. Fix this leak by adding the missing kfree(aq->q_wr) in
the destruction path.

eth header from ib_ud_header structure packs the mac
into 4B high and 2B low parts. But when 4B high is used
in memcpy, it sees it as overflow. However, this is safe
due to the 4B high and 2B low arrangement in the structure.
To avoid the memcpy warning, use ether_addr_copy to copy
the mac address.

xchg() is used to safely handle the event queue arming.
However SPARC xchg operates only 4B of variable.
