11 daysirqchip/ts4800: Fix missing chained handler cleanup on removeQingshuang Fu
The driver installs a chained handler for the parent interrupt during probe using irq_set_chained_handler_and_data(), but the remove function does not clear this handler. This leaves a dangling handler that may be called when the parent interrupt fires after the driver has been removed, potentially accessing freed memory and causing a kernel crash. Additionally, the parent_irq obtained via irq_of_parse_and_map() is not stored, making it inaccessible in the remove function. Moreover, interrupt mappings created during probe are not properly disposed. of_get_cpu_node() returns a referenced device node. In its_cpu_init_collection(), the Cavium 23144 workaround only uses the node to compare the CPU NUMA node, but the reference is never dropped. Use the device_node cleanup helper for the CPU node reference so it is released when leaving the workaround block, including the NUMA mismatch return path. 2026-06-22irqchip/imgpdc: Fix resource leak, add missing chained handler cleanup on removeQingshuang Fu
The driver allocates domain generic chips using irq_alloc_domain_generic_chips() during probe and sets up chained handlers using irq_set_chained_handler_and_data(). However, on driver removal, the generic chips are not freed and the chained handlers are not removed. The generic chips remain on the global gc_list and may later be accessed by generic interrupt chip suspend, resume, or shutdown callbacks after the driver has been removed, potentially resulting in a use-after-free and kernel crash. The chained handlers that were installed in probe for peripheral and syswake interrupts are also left dangling, which can lead to spurious interrupts accessing freed memory. 2026-06-21irqchip/crossbar: Use correct index in crossbar_domain_free()Bhargav Joshi
crossbar_domain_free() resets the domain data and then uses the nulled out irq_data->hwirq member as index to reset the irq_map[] entry and to write the relevant crossbar register with a safe entry. That means it never frees the correct index and keeps the crossbar register connection to the source interrupt active. If it would not reset the domain data, then this would be even worse as irq_data->hwirq holds the source interrupt number, but both the map and register index need the corresponding GIC SPI number and not the source interrupt number. This might even result in an out of bounds access as the source interrupt number can be higher than the maximal index space. Fix this by using the GIC SPI index from the parent domain's irq_data. This touches the SPEC_CTRL handling, which is now entirely done in assembly for Intel (by reusing the AMD code that already existed), and register save/restore which uses some macro magic to compute the offsets in the struct. 2026-06-12of: Factor arguments passed to of_map_id() into a structCharan Teja Kalla
Change of_map_id() to take a pointer to struct of_phandle_args instead of passing target device node and translated IDs separately. Update all callers accordingly. Add an explicit filter_np parameter to of_map_id() and of_map_msi_id() to separate the filter input from the output. Previously, the target parameter served dual purpose: as an input filter (if non-NULL, only match entries targeting that node) and as an output (receiving the matched node with a reference held). Now filter_np is the explicit input filter and arg->np is the pure output. Previously, of_map_id() would call of_node_put() on the matched node when a filter was provided, making reference ownership inconsistent. Remove this internal of_node_put() call so that of_map_id() now always transfers ownership of the matched node reference to the caller via arg->np. Callers are now consistently responsible for releasing this reference with of_node_put(arg->np) when done. The Realtek interrupt controller has two important registers that are used by the driver in several places - GIMR: global interrupt mask register - IRR: Interrupt routing registers The usage of these registers is very inconsistent. GIMR is addressed directly while IRR has a helper that needs a macro as an input. Harmonize this by providing consistent helpers that improve code readability. The callers of these helpers use classic lock/unlock functions and sometimes use the wrong locking helper. E.g. irqsave variants are used in mask/unmask although not needed. Adapt and fix the surrounding call locations. The main function of the redirect interrupt controller is to manage the redirected-interrupt table, which consists of many redirected entries. When MSI interrupts are requested, the driver creates a corresponding redirected entry that describes the target CPU/vector number and the operating mode of the interrupt. The redirected interrupt module has an independent cache, and during the interrupt routing process, it will prioritize the redirected entries that hit the cache. The irqchip driver can invalidate certain entry caches via a command queue. Interrupt redirection support requires a new redirect domain, which will appear as a child domain of avecintc domain. For each interrupt source, avecintc domain only provides the CPU/interrupt vectors, while redirect domain provides other operations to synchronize the interrupt affinity information among multiple cores. When modifying the affinity of an interrupt associated with the redirect domain, if the avecintc domain detects that the actual interrupt affinity hasn't been changed, then the redirect domain doesn't need to perform any operations. To achieve the above purpose, in avecintc_set_affinity() when the current affinity remains valid, then return value is set to IRQ_SET_MASK_OK_DONE. This doesn't introduce any compatibility issues, even if the new return value causing msi_domain_set_affinity() to no longer perform the call to irq_chip_write_msi_msg(): 1) When both avecintc and redirect exist in the system, the msg_address and msg_data no longer change after the allocation phase, so it does not actually require updating the MSI message info. 2) When only avecintc exists in the system, the irq_domain_activate_irq() interface will be responsible for the initial configuration of the MSI message info, which is unconditional. After that, if unnecessary, there is no modification to the MSI message info. The QCOM_PDC_SIZE constant (0x30000) was introduced to work around old sm8150 DTs that described a too-small PDC register region, causing the driver to silently expand the ioremap to cover three DRV regions. Now that the preceding DT fixes have corrected all platforms to describe only the APSS DRV region (0x10000), the oversized clamp is no longer needed. Replace QCOM_PDC_SIZE with PDC_DRV_SIZE (0x10000) in the clamp so the minimum mapped size matches a single DRV region. The clamp and warning are intentionally kept to preserve backward compatibility with any old DTs that may still describe a smaller region. While at it, rename PDC_DRV_OFFSET to PDC_DRV_SIZE since the constant represents the size of a DRV region and is used as both the ioremap minimum size and the offset to the previous DRV region. 2026-05-23irqchip/gic-v5: Immediately exec priority drop following activateSascha Bischoff
With GICv5 an interrupt of equal or lower priority cannot be signalled until there has been a priority drop. This is done via the GIC CDEOI system instruction. Once this has been executed, the hardware is able to signal the next interrupt if there is one. As all interrupts are programmed to have the same priority, no new interrupts can be signalled until the priority drop has happened. This can cause issues when, for example, an interrupt remains active while a long running process takes place, such as when injecting a physical interrupt into a guest VM in software. The GICv5 driver has so far done the priority drop as part of irq_eoi(), i.e., at the same time as deactivating the interrupt. This means that any long running process (or VM) could block incoming interrupts, effectively causing a denial of service for all other interrupts. Rather than doing the EOI as part of irq_eoi() (which the name would suggest would be a good place for it), move it to happen immediately after acknowledging an interrupt in the main GICv5 interrupt handler. The deactivation of interrupts (GIC CDDI) remains implemented as part of irq_eoi(), which means that the same interrupt cannot be signalled a second time until deactivated by software. 2026-05-21irqchip/exynos-combiner: Switch to raw_spinlockMarek Szyprowski
The exynos-combiner driver uses a regular spinlock to protect access to the combiner interrupt status register in combiner_handle_cascade_irq(), which is invoked in hard interrupt context as a chained interrupt handler. When PREEMPT_RT is enabled on ARM, regular spinlock is converted to a sleeping lock (mutex-based), which must not be used in atomic context such as hard interrupt handlers. Switch the irq_controller_lock to raw_spinlock, which remains a true non-sleeping spinlock even under PREEMPT_RT. The Vectored External Interrupt Controller mode present in the MIPS 34Kc and 1004Kc variants causes the CPU to stop dispatching interrupts by the normal code path and instead it sends those interrupts to the external interrupt controller to be prioritized, renumbered, and sent back. When they come back, they are handled through a different path using a dispatch table, so plat_irq_dispatch() never sees action. This of course subverts the traditional intc hierarchy, and on the 1004Kc the interrupt controller is standardized (IRQ_GIC) so it can be reasonably considered part of the CPU itself - and tighter coupling between IRQ_GIC and arch/mips/* is tolerable. However on the 34Kc the intc is defined by each SoC vendor, so it's required to have a modular driver - but for a device which in fact ends up taking over the entire interrupt system. Let the DT describe which IRQs which come from the CPU and should be routed back and handled by the CPU intc. These particularly include the two IPI interrupts which would otherwise necessitate duplication of all the IPI supporting infrastructure from the CPU intc. 2026-05-11irqchip/riscv-imsic: Clear interrupt move state during CPU offliningYong-Xuan Wang
Affinity changes of IMSIC interrupts have to be careful to not lose an interrupt in the process. Each vector keeps track of an affinity change in progress with two pointers in struct imsic_vector. imsic_vector::move_prev points to the previous CPU target data and imsic_vector::move_next to the designated new CPU target data. imsic_vector::move_prev on the new CPU can only be cleared after the previous CPU has cleared imsic_vector::move_next, which ususally happens in __imsic_remote_sync(). In case of CPU hot-unplug __imsic_remote_sync() is not invoked because the CPU is already marked offline. That means imsic_vector::move_prev becomes stale until the CPU is onlined again. The stale pointer prevents further affinity changes for the affected interrupts. Solve this by clearing the imsic_vector::move_prev pointers in the CPU hotplug offline path. 2026-05-11irqchip/gic-v5: Allocate ITS parent LPIs as a rangeSascha Bischoff
The ITS MSI domain no longer manages LPI allocation directly. LPIs are allocated and freed by the parent LPI domain, which can now handle a full range of interrupts and unwind partial allocations internally. Make the ITS domain request and release the parent IRQs as a single range instead of iterating over each interrupt. The ITS allocation path then only needs to reserve EventIDs, allocate the parent range, and fill in the ITS irq_data for each MSI. Since no operation in the per-MSI loop can fail, the partial parent-free unwind becomes unnecessary. On teardown, reset the ITS irq_data for the range and then release the parent range in one call, leaving LPI teardown to the LPI domain. The per-IPI parent allocation loop returns immediately on failure and leaks any parent interrupts allocated by earlier iterations. The GICv5 LPI domain now owns LPI allocation and teardown internally, but its irq_domain callbacks still reject requests where nr_irqs is greater than one. This forces child domains to allocate and free LPIs one at a time even when the interrupt core requests a contiguous range. Handle multi-interrupt allocation and teardown in the LPI domain by iterating over the requested range and unwinding any partially allocated state on failure. Allocate the parent LPIs for the IPI domain with a single range request as well, which cures the leakage problem.
