2026-02-21Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argumentLinus Torvalds
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' | xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/' to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL argument to just drop that argument. Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered: they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically. For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate conversion. Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
2026-02-21treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar typesKees Cook
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union object instances: Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...) Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...) Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...) (where TYPE may also be *VAR) The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning "TYPE *". Signed-off-by: Kees Cook <kees@kernel.org>
2025-12-15MIPS: Move IP30 timer to request_percpu_irq()Marc Zyngier
Teach the SGI IP30 timer about request_percpu_irq(), which ultimately will allow for the removal of the antiquated setup_percpu_irq() API. 2025-07-28MIPS: Update Joshua Kinard's e-mail addressJoshua Kinard
I am switching my address to a personal domain, so some files in the SGI IP30 and IOC3 files need to be updated. I will send updates for the MAINTAINERS file and rtc-ds1685 separately to linux-rtc. 2025-04-04irqdomain: Rename irq_set_default_host() to irq_set_default_domain()Jiri Slaby (SUSE)
Naming interrupt domains host is confusing at best and the irqdomain code uses both domain and host inconsistently. Therefore rename irq_set_default_host() to irq_set_default_domain(). Include linux/processor.h to fix build error: arch/mips/sgi-ip30/ip30-console.c: In function ‘prom_putchar’: arch/mips/sgi-ip30/ip30-console.c:21:17: error: implicit declaration of function ‘cpu_relax’ [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration] 21 | cpu_relax(); Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Jiaxun Yang <jiaxun.yang@flygoat.com> Signed-off-by: Thomas Bogendoerfer <tsbogend@alpha.franken.de>

2022-09-19MIPS: SGI-IP30: Fix platform-device leak in bridge_platform_create()Lin Yujun
In error case in bridge_platform_create after calling platform_device_add()/platform_device_add_data()/ platform_device_add_resources(), release the failed 'pdev' or it will be leak, call platform_device_put() to fix this problem. Besides, 'pdev' is divided into 'pdev_wd' and 'pdev_bd', use platform_device_unregister() to release sgi_w1 resources when xtalk-bridge registration fails. 2022-04-26MIPS: SGI-IP30: Free some unused memoryChristophe JAILLET
platform_device_add_data() duplicates the memory it is passed. So we can free some memory to save a few bytes that would remain unused otherwise. Signed-off-by: Christophe JAILLET <christophe.jaillet@wanadoo.fr> Signed-off-by: Thomas Bogendoerfer <tsbogend@alpha.franken.de>
2021-11-06memblock: rename memblock_free to memblock_phys_freeMike Rapoport
Since memblock_free() operates on a physical range, make its name reflect it and rename it to memblock_phys_free(), so it will be a logical counterpart to memblock_phys_alloc(). The callers are updated with the below semantic patch: @@ expression addr; expression size; @@ - memblock_free(addr, size); + memblock_phys_free(addr, size); Link: https://lkml.kernel.org/r/20210930185031.18648-6-rppt@kernel.org Signed-off-by: Mike Rapoport <rppt@linux.ibm.com> Cc: Christophe Leroy <christophe.leroy@csgroup.eu> Cc: Juergen Gross <jgross@suse.com> Cc: Shahab Vahedi <Shahab.Vahedi@synopsys.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
2021-08-12mips: Bulk conversion to generic_handle_domain_irq()Marc Zyngier
Wherever possible, replace constructs that match either generic_handle_irq(irq_find_mapping()) or generic_handle_irq(irq_linear_revmap()) to a single call to generic_handle_domain_irq(). Acked-by: Thomas Bogendoerfer <tsbogend@alpha.franken.de> Signed-off-by: Marc Zyngier <maz@kernel.org>
